what is Obama doing?
Elmo replied to mike rossi's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This is one of the ugly sides of the economic boom China has faced in the past couple of decades. In years past, the country was mainly divided by the filthy rich who were educated, and the uneducated who were poor and didn't have the means to do anything. The economic all of a sudden created a huge group of people who were uneducated but all of a sudden came upon a bunch of money and now has the means to do a lot of stupid sh#t. -
People who practice off of treestands on their property live outside of these restricted areas. You can also take your treestand out into public land that does allow hunting, setup a target and practice there. Unfortunately, that's what the law states. Coincidently, a lady was shot with an arrow a couple of years ago in my neighborhood. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/20/nyregion/20arrow.html?_r=0

Lateral Flys and Standing Front Should Flys. Youtube them up and you'll see them. What you can do is use a very light weight and then hold it for a few seconds every time you lift up on your rep. To draw, I use the cable machines and stimulate drawing back a bow by doing a modified soft of cable machine back row exercise. I also turn my body to the side as if I'm pulling a bow. I switch sides and do both sides. Even though I shoot right handed, I'm one of those paranoid guys that don't want to look distorted. When I was a kid, my right deltoid looks visibly bigger than my left because I was playing baseball so much. Another great thing to do for you office guys if resistance bands. They're tiny and you can throw them in your bag or pocket. Then while seated in your office, you can hold up the band like it's a bow and pull on it while you're in the middle of a conference call.

My bow is currently set to 52. I can probably go up to 60 without any issues but haven't felt the need. I rather be able to pull back smooth and effortlessly than having to have a herky jerky motion. Being quiet and stealthy to me is more important than any advantages gained from the extra draw weight.

Vince1, you cannot discharge anything, not even bodily fluids, in NYC at all so unless you own a falconry license, forget about hunting in NYC. As far as squirrels go, season opens September 1st in any area that allows hunting. There are plenty of areas you can hunt squirrels near NYC. Go to the DEC website and Dow load their google maps add on and highlight any area that allows hunting. You can also hunt certain DEP land. DEP land must be obtained from DEP website. We also put together a squirrel hunting party every once in a while on this forum. Several of us do it just to meet up and catch up with fellow hunters. It's also a good way to introduce new hunters as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Does anyone know if the proposed reduction in hunting license fees that is suppose to go into effect next year is going to affect life times?
-
I think by Husky guys, he means guys who own Siberian Huskies and jogs with them regularly. Only way a fat slob outlives me is if I meet an untimely death.

Happy birthday!

Damn, Dinsdale. Next time you want to offer a free safari hunt complete with limo ride to JFK, I'll not only pay for my own plane ticket but I'll cover half of yours as well. Geez. One of these days I'll go on a guided hunt. Will probably start out simple like hogs or something. No point in tagging a monster elk when I have no where to put the horns. Plus there are a couple of other places I need to check off my bucket list.

apoallo - Why not buy some disposable contacts and just wear them when you go hunting. Leave the rest in the packaging when you're not hunting. That'll allow you to drag a batch through the whole season and more depending on how often you go.

I believe they're call transition lens. I went with Lasiks and it was the best decision I ever made but I would higher recommend you don't skimp on it. Pay extra for the best doc you can find. You only have one set of eyes.

I have the Contour ROAM. I don't know anything about GoPro's hunting stance but Contour makes picattanny mounts and bow mounts for their camera so I would guess they're hunter/gun friendly. I also went with the Contour because it's sleeker than the GoPro's boxing exterior. Contour's picture quality isn't as good as the GoPro's but I think it's good enough. It's mic isn't that great. It too also makes a 20 yard shot look like a 50-60 yard shot. Unfortunately for me, I don't own too any rifles that has picattanny rail that isn't already being used by the scope so I don't use it as much.

by the way, I meant to say "I can't remember clearly".
-
I can remember clearly but I heard something of this sort. Normally muzzleloaders, you can leave the bullet and powder in but when you remove the primer the muzzleloader is considered unloaded and thus can be transported in a vehicle, etc. With the electronic ignition, leaving the bullet and powder in makes the muzzleloader loaded and thus illegal to transport in a vehicle. I thought I remember hearing something like that but can't check since I'm on the road.
-
I know but it's an attitude/mindset. It's like saying goes: "Whether you think you can or you think you can't; you're probably right." (or something like that. Can't remember word for word).

You can't expect to pay bottom dollar and expect to get a luxury car with leather trimmings and wood paneling but you can expect to a vehicle that'll get you from point a to point b. If you're working on a sub $550 budget on a brand new high caliber rifle you can still get something that'll get you 1 MOA but also expect a plastic-y feel and things feeling loose here and there. It is what it is. That said, I have 2 Savage rifles and both are superb for their value. The Axis feels like a cheap plastic toy to me. It may very well be a great gun performance wise. Ruger just release the new American Rifle. Don't know much about it. Remington is countering with a new 783 model. Hopefully its a big improvement. The TC Venture may be had around the $500 price point. You can also go down to the H&R Handi-Rifle in 30-06 if budget is really tight. Nothing fancy but you'll at least get actual wood and a solid rifle and still have money left over.

Welcome aboard, WNY-Hunter! Thank you for your services.

The moment I discovered modern muzzleloaders, I'll don't care if I never have to use a 12 gauge slug again. I admit, that thing use to kick the snot out of me and I could never get it to group well any. I only shoot what I can never miss so only having one shot never bothers me anyway.

So how far are you guys on your "Honey Do List"?
Elmo replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
Still need to: Put up new window blinds. Remove some old furniture. Buy and build new baby furniture. Fix leak under bathroom sink. Cover crack in kitchen wall. Paint walls due to repairs to the aforementioned kitchen wall and living room floor. Completely quarantine the apartment a couple of days before little man shows up. I think I'll hire Consuela from Family Guy to take care of the last one. -
I use this app called "Sunrise & Set". It's actually a photography app that I use to try and capture those moments on film but I find it works just as well for hunting purposes. I also like that it gives you the civil twilight so you know exactly when you have to get out of the woods before it goes completely pitch black on you.
