  1. My likes are working fine, and I have not seen anything "wonky" about the site. I dont use Tapatalk, so maybe it has to do with that.
  2. Yep, Cerakote if you are worried about rust. My deer rifle will be getting that treatment after this season.
  3. Been raining like crazy in our area. I will take all I can get, as Ive been hauling water to fill the well every couple of days for weeks.
  4. I usually have my scoped rifle with me, and my 30-30 with iron sights in the truck just in case.
  5. The forearm is also attached to the barrel. There is no movement there. Just the hammer, frame and grip. Ive had a couple of Encores, and they have been sub MOA with no upgraded hinge pin. I know of at least 6 other guys that have them, and none of them have any accuracy issues, or cutsom hinge pins.
  6. The barrel can move in comparison to the frame, yes, but it doesnt move in comparison to the scope, which is what you are aiming with. It doesnt affect accuracy.
  7. The hinge pin doesnt affect accuracy if you are using a scope. The scope is mounted to the barrel The hinge pin connects the barrel to the frame (trigger, hammer and grip)
  8. I think it was 2006. I used to hunt down at Coyle Hill alot and I remember taking my 30-30 down there the first year of rifle.
  9. Ill be out Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. It doesnt look that bad.
  10. I have had pictures for well over a month of young bucks hitting scrapes, and lots of small rubs on light brush and small trees for two weeks at our place. The mature bucks have just started using the scrapes regularly over the past couple of weeks.
  11. Last evening while glassing one of our properties, I watched a mature buck work a scrape for 10 minutes, then head to the next one down the field edge. He passed right by 2 of our stands in the process. I was pretty bummed I wasnt in one of those stands, but it was good to see him working like that. " If you have a couple mature bucks you will have rubs and scrapes. Young bucks are a little later to the game. " Its actually the other way around. Young bucks tend to act on the hormones first, as they have less experience with the whole process than the older ones do.
  12. I didnt attack you or assume anything. I said that your statement was dumb, and it was in my opinion. Im allowed to have one of those lol. Dont take it as saying you are dumb, because I dont think you are.
  13. I know what you mean, and I dont mean to come off like Im saying that a perfect shot has to be 20 yards slight quartering away or anything like that.
  14. LOL, it proves your dedication to take shots at deer when theres a high likelyhood that you wont be able to recover it? That has to be the dumbest thing Ive heard on here in a while, and thats saying alot.
  15. See, you missed the point, because thats not at all what Im saying. The point is, you really dont have control over making a perfect shot at all, and that I feel that you should not purposely take a shot at a deer in conditions that make the likelihood of recovering that deer significantly less. Things can and do happen that affect your shot, so you saying "you don't need to make a perfect shot every time only when you need too (like when it's raining)" is really a falsity. In the next sentence you summed up the reality of it though, and unfortunately everyones luck runs out at some point.
  16. I beg to differ. I dont take marginal shots with a bow ever. Rain, snow, sun, weather conditions dont make a difference. I take shots that I feel are good and Im comfortable with. Unfortunately, I dont always hit exactly what I aimed for, for a variety of reasons. Some I can control, some I cant. Nobodys perfect, nobody makes a perfect shot on a deer every single time. Anyone that says they do is a liar. I will bow hunt in a light rain, and Ill stay on stand through a heavy rain if its supposed to end, but if its going to be an all day heavyish rain, I wont hunt. There have been times that I have lost deer in good conditions, it happens. Im just not going to risk not being able to find a deer I shot anymore than I have to.
  17. Yep. I forgot to add that step. You use the Campden tabs at the end before you bottle it as well, or youll end up with tops popped off or blown out bottles.
  18. I make my own. I should actually be getting started this week as long as I get my raw cider. Theres nothing special to it, just 1lb of sucrose per gallon of cider, champagne yeast and raw cider in a bucket with a bubbler. Last year I got mine up to 16%, and I had to add sugar to it after I killed the yeast off, because it was super dry. Takes 2-3 weeks to ferment as long as you do it inside at room temps, and not in a cold garage or basement.
  19. They have shifted food sources. Still lots of activity near me, just in different areas.
  20. CarbonTV has a ton of great stuff on it. I play it on my ipad and stream it to my Apple TV. My girlfriend has DirecTV and theres just the Pursuit Channel unless you get the sports package. Half the time that channel plays the "Deer Society" which is nothing but a Deer Extinguisher commercial disguised as a hunting show. I hardly ever watch it, I just watch the shows on CarbonTV.
  21. Im very happy with the performance of my Browning cam. I will more than likely keep using them for any non-cellular cams I buy from now on. This one is a 2015 Spec Ops FHD
  22. I got this video from my last cam card pull. Probably one of the cooler videos I have gotten on cam. A flock of turkeys were coming through when a Redtail Hawk swooped down on them.
  23. Just got up in my stand after making rounds of trail cams and doing a bit of scouting at the other farm. Sitting over a plot that sits between prime bedding and an oak bottom that's full of acorns. Already had 2 doe sneak through the thick stuff just downhill from me. I really need to get some shooting lanes cut down to that trail.
