Sounds fun. Every year I follow your tracking adventures.

Sounds like an awesome hunt!

Just had a tick on me. Now I'm paranoid and got the creepy crawlies!
-
I'm set up in same area as yesterday but no close gobbling today. One or two gobbling quite a bit way aways. Just now a shot, he probably a goner.

I had a fun hunt this morning. I buddy and myself went to one of his spots. Right after we got set up a tom fired up above us but back the way we came in. We stayed put anyway. A hen flew out into the field we were watching first. After that I heard a little clucking, then shortly three jakes came by me. I knew my buddy would probably take one if he had the chance. They started heading his way. The tom was still hammering away all the while. I thought I heard wing flaps in the direction of the field so I started looking that way when.... ka boom. My buddy whacked one of the jakes. As I look his way I see a strutting tom out in the field with a hen so I start calling with cuts and yelps. I texted my buddy not to get up to get his jake. The tom and hen came towards us a bit but the hen eventually led him away into the brush. We waited a while then got out of there. All in all it was a good morning.

I've been setting my alarm for a few days then shutting it off to keep sleeping. Not tomorrow! I'm heading out with a buddy for a hunt on his farm. Last year we went and I blew it on a nice Tom. Hopefully I can redeem myself this year.

I went to check a camera in an orchard this morning and there was a bird gobbling pretty good about 150 yards down into the woods. I guess I should have had my gear with me in the truck!

Sit tight, make a few calls and hope one circles back in a while.

I had a good hunt this morning. I got started in my blind. I heard one gobbling over a knoll in the same spot they were Monday. I opted to get out of my blind and get a little closer. I got set up not far from the gobbling but couldn't see him in the tree. I did a very little calling and he was fired up. He ended up flying down about 30 yards in front of me and putting on a gobbling and strutting show. The only problem was it was a jake and I'm not interested in shooting a jake. It was fun though. He got to about 10 yards in front of me before he veered off the trail and went into the brushier stuff looking for the hen he thought I was.

I suppose I should have known better. I'm hunting a new place today where some strutter's have been seen from the road in the wheat fields below the hill top I'm on. Of course there is a guy calling like crazy down below me. Oh well, I gave it a shot anyway. Back to hunting behind my house tomorrow if it's not raining.

Nothing close enough to see but had a bunch of gobbling activity this morning. I snuck out with out bumping anything I think.

The ones I get are mostly automated and either tell me they will help me with my student loan debt (never had any), or tell me some sort of warranty is about to run out.

I'm not out hunting but I heard some gobbling behind my house this morning when I let the dogs out. I'm going to check cameras today to see if any Tom's have joined the three Jake's that have been out there for the last few weeks.

The water table is super high right now in my area (Wayne county). There is no way I would attempt a perc test to get an accurate guage of how wet things are after the rains we've had. Next week things would look a whole lot different.

Last winter I got a pic of a piebald (far left in the pic). I only laid eyes on it once when I took my dog for a walk. This past fall there was an albino I saw pretty frequently in a field on my way home not really too far from home. Pretty cool to see something a little different than the ordinary.

Anchorman is a classic for funny

I would guess 3 1/2 coming from a non ag area.

Too early for cereal grains?

Early planted oats make a great plot for spring turkey hunting, just not this early. Mid to late April works best for that. -
I've been getting pics of three Jake's strutting with a flock of hens behind my house for a month now. Today I saw a beauty of a Tom strutting with a big flock. This is in Wayne county. Best turkey numbers we've had in a long time I think.

I stopped to get a money order a while back. The clerk at the counter told me they couldn't issue one because they didn't have the key to unlock them! I was told to try back later, then the person with the key might be back.

The moron Cuomo blamed RG&E for not being "prepared" for the wind storm last Wednesday and blamed them for the power outages lasting so long. I hope the union workers remember that the next time they are told to vote for him!

Big crew from the Midwest rolled into Sodus while I was there today around lunchtime. Looked odd with the whole road lined up with lineman's trucks.

Usually one or the other of two brothers I have been hunting with since we were in highschool 20 years ago. I'll never forget how our parents would write us excuses to leave school early on Fridays so I could drive us down to my uncle's hunting camp. It was a lot of fun for a couple of teenagers to go hang out with "the guys" for the weekend.

I was in the Webster Wegmans earlier just after they lost power. They were going crazy trying to get all the refrigerated stuff moved or covered. Might not want any fresh fish from there the next day or two!
