Tom King's statements. Thoughts?
RangerClay replied to virgil's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I read this more than a month ago. The main reason he said he wasn't going was stated in the article. He also said Tuesday's rally will include people who are pushing other issues like hydrofracking, anti-abortion, and land owner rights. "All worthy issues, but not 2nd Amendment issues!," King wrote. "We are a single issue advocacy group and our message becomes compromised with these other groups included." -
I'm sorry to hear that but as men we make sacrifices for our families. That's our job and I for one am proud of you. You will have a truck again one day. Till then hold your head up and make the best of your car.

There is very sound advice right there! Especially the first 3 if you want them to last. I like to use a step ladder so they are 8 or so feet up. Less likely to be torn down. I use the yellow with black letters. Make sure you put your name on the signs.

Remember what I told you in my PM? It's a mineral block

Browning BAR .308 Accuracy issues
RangerClay replied to ApexerER's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I cannot believe there is not another .308 BAR in the plant. Did they say what the wait period would be till one is available? -
LOL! It's gotten so if my wife see's me looking for something, see will ask what I'm looking for.

Well button my britches. Wonder when that turn around happened. It used to be a no-no unless you had a .38 with the proper barrel length. I used to carry a .22 in order to polish off wounded deer till an ECO gave me a warning. Now I carry a little .38. Nice to know. Thanks!
-
Just don't carry the .22 while deer hunting. That's a no-no.

I've got an iphone 4s. I like how I get notifications from here about PM's and such on my phone. However I cannot find a setting to change the tone. I've got to Setting and Sounds and Tapatalk is not listed. If I click on Tapatalk I can change what I wish to get notified about. No where can I mute it or change the tone. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Get yourself one or both of these. http://www.sportsmansconnection.com/atlases/features/ny/hunting/ For many the first place they hunt is on State land. It is an awesome resource for finding available state land to hunt on. I guarantee you will discover places to hunt that you and many others never knew existed.

My boy has caught bullheads this winter on tip-ups rigged for perch on LOTI Lake of the Isles. Wish I had time to go back home in Madison County and catch real farmpond bullheads. These Lake Ontario bullheads are not the same.

Sure does! My Turbohawk is a great bow, I bet this one will be just as great. Good luck with it.

I'm not a big fan of tat's but that one is cool. Would like to see that as a print in color on a my wall at home.

I used to take my boy to this place where he hammered the bluegills from shore. He loved it. Take him down to Onondoga Park and fish the outlet/breakwall and catch white perch. I going to spell this wrong, Caughnoy Dam is also a good spot near you. There is that little state access park near Brewerton that you can see from the rt.81 bridge. I've never been there but it would be a cool spot for a picnic and catch panfish. USE BOBBERS! Kids love them and get off watching the nibbles. Take him out for breakfast or lunch afterwards. Especially at diners where he can sit at the counter with the big boys. Get him his official fishing hat.

Hey there! This is my recipe for corned venison. I make a double batch every year for our church St Patricks Day dinner and it's always the first one dish gone. Brine Ingredients 2 quarts water 1/4 cup canning salt 5-6 peppercorns 3 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons McCormicks pickling spices Mix all of the ingredients together and boil for 5 minutes in a covered pot. After 5 minutes, set aside to cool. Your house will smell so good after this. Place cooled brine a 1 gallon zip lock bag. Add your roast, remove excess air and zip shut. Refrigerate for a minimum of 3 days. 5 days is much better. Ocassionaly flip it. I prefer the top round from a hind quarter for this. They average about 2 pounds each on an adult deer. But any roast will do. After soaking is complete, wrap roast in foil. Leave some space inside because the roast will make it's own juices to cook in but seal tight so it doesn't leak. Bake 350 about 1 hour per pound. Pull from the oven when the center is 150 degrees. Seal the foil back up to preseve heat and let the meat rest on the counter. In a large pot bring your brine to a boil. Once boiling you may get a greyish foam on top. It's cooked blood from the roast. Skim it off then add baby carrots, potatoes (I like little salt potatoes, don't add salt) and a head of cabbage cut into quarters. Boil for 30-40 minutes or till the cabbage is done. Be sure to keep a lid on this so you don't lose moisture. When the vegetables are 5 minutes from done, remove the meat from the foil. Slice thin and place on a deep roaster pan. Pour off half of the vegetable brine. Now pour the entire pot, vegetables and remaining brine over the sliced venison. Serve and enjoy!

OH! And a big thank you for the kind comments.

I'll try but I don't have much luck posting pics on this forum. Add to that Photobucket is blocked here at work. This forum doesn't like my photo host. If a mod wants to PM me, I can text or email it.

I'm presently marinating 2 corned venison roasts for tonights church dinner. Awesome stuff. My Irish priest requests me to make it every year. After you roast the meat in the oven, you boil, carrots, salt potatoes and cabbage in the brine. Make a yummy boiled dinner. If anyone wants the recipe, send me a PM. I'll ship it back to you later. I don't have it here at work.

Check out the sports section of the Syracuse Sunday paper. That's my boy with that big pike!

Depends on what you are looking for. I was in the Utica Bass Pro last Sunday. They had almost everything I use, including .22's. It gets harder when you need something specific. Like I cannot find LeveRevolution 30-30's. When I do find them, I buy them up so I won't have to pay the background check fee later on.
