  1. Welcome, you still live in the city ? I’m in Suffern; if you’re lookin to hunt in Rockland/Orange lmk
  2. Wow, looks great, I'd be afraid though it makes it more conspicuous then when strapped onto the tree and more likely stolen
  3. Thanks for the heads up about the numbers increasing . I'm always very leery about hunting public land opening weekend; now, I'll be twice as leery lol
  4. Yes, very nice, reminds me of home!! Hows the deer density around where you hunt? Do you see deer much? I know alot of places in the 'Dacks you can go days without seeing one ; but, when you do, it can be a real Monster!!
  5. So, where you get all this milkweed , anyway ? Lol
  6. Yes, same here , so sorry for your loss , my condolences to you and family
  7. According to DEC , you’re not supposed to leave a stand up on state land after the seasons over so you could turn him in if he’s leaving it there year round .
  8. Same here , although I’d like to start paying attention more to the wind , just don’t have the time and luxury currently , to make it a priority . Eventually , I would like to set stands in multiple places providing choice based on wind directions for during that particular hunt
  9. Oh ok , so pack on your chest , I was thinking that too . Maybe I’ll get one of those fanny packs for the front
  10. Hey Guys, So I just started messin around w/ my new Summit Viper Climber ; got it all put together, received a quick climbing lesson from a guy in my club, but, I just realized a potential problem: how do you carry your rifle (or, bow, for that matter if bow hunting) when humping in your treestand? I saw that he doesnt use a backpack due to the climber on his back, so , goes in light but I never asked him that!! Do you have to just walk in carrying your rifle in one hand, or, maybe at port arms all the time? Seems like you cant use the sling while packing it in, correct?
  11. In the fall , it’s always a good bet to tie on a streamer ; better yet , use a double streamer Setup
  12. I truly hope that his case is mild and that He recovers quickly and completely very soon . This is crazy
  13. That sucks , but glad he’s ok , better than being dead and/or paralyzed .
  14. Just saw your post and, ironically , I was just at Sterling yesterday to get my hunting tag and scope out the area cuz I’ve never hunted there before . Looked to me like there was good access to get into a lot of the areas that allowed hunting from 17A and 84 and also , from trails . So You can’t drive there , maybe From a seasonal access road , and park to get in ?
  15. You think they Would they be effective while still hunting ? Sounds like not due to the amplification and lack of directional hearing
  16. I bought a pair of Lacrosse last year and love them but they’re definitely not meant for long distance hikes . For warmth , I usually only double my wool socks , finding triple- layer actually seems to make my feet colder !!
  17. Yes, that’s what another guy said, that if they’re pre-cracked , maybe they’ll eat them; otherwise , they won’t put the effort in themselves .
  18. I see ALOT of black walnuts in and around Orange County but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deer eating black walnuts . Did a search on Google and came up with conflicting answers so I thought I’d post it here . So, Do you know if Deer will eat Black Walnuts ?
  19. I’m gonna do a search on Sportsman’s Guide to get a price range and see if it’s worth it to give it a try; maybe they’ve improved the technology as of late ?
  20. Yes , that I remember that!! I wonder if there have been any improvements in design in recent years ?
