  1. What let em grow said no need to drag in spring put the seed down as soon as snow is gone or mostly gone and wait will take awhile clover is slow growing you cant compare its growth to brassicas but the sooner the seed is down the better so it has a jump start on weeds
  2. I was thinking the same thing,,, I think i used 600lbs fertilizer on 2 1/2 acres, and will put some more down when plants are about month old....i used 15-15-15
  3. Yeah mine are looking good to planted on july 20th and brassicas are about 4 or 5in high the clover i put in this spring is doing great, when was yours planted
  4. Deer browse on the stems and leaves later in the year too,,,
  5. to early for me still food plot season once all my prep is done stand etc then ill be in count down down mode end of august ill be ready
  6. I live on the lake and fish alot ive used them a couple times and never had great results, but i know people that swear by them...my go to is black jig and when fishing shallow shad rap...
  7. Sounds like you got a good balanced habitat, Ive found that if prey does get scares the yotes move on too, I agree there can be to many yotes and they need to be hunted but its all part of natures cycle, and im sure the yotes keep racoon, possum etc numbers down those guys might not take deer but they do raid nests
  8. you can have some of the rain i got with todays rain im gussing over 7 in in last 30 days i have one plot with standing water
  9. grains and such 1st week sept. raddish turnips now
  10. My first yr owning my land i had a ton of yote pics I later found a den on the proprty since then very few yotes one every now and then
  11. Well went and checked on plots most look very good plants are close to 2in after 10days some bare spots where heavy rain washed seed away and a few spots of standing water still, will hit the those spots again with a lil seed but all looks good
  12. Cant believe you guys are still dry I just checked my plots and one has standing water but my area got over 6in of rain july
  13. I would say the farmer is letting the field rest this yr the farmer near me had same type a field and he just tilled couple weeks ago and plant oats or winter wheat something like that
  14. Dont know for a fact but ive heard its better to wait for rain
  15. Nope it becomes inactive when in contact with dirt, only works on weeds already up,
  16. Well its the neighbors is a small piece and either on or two guys already hunt it, I would be happy with what you got, the other guys wont be happy if you pay and they get a the boot ... I would bet if that happen you may be missing some stands
  17. i like and needed rain since i just planted but as much as my area got i hope it dosent wash the seed off and i know in a couple spots i can get standing water
  18. I think i got enough rain lol flash flood warning now down by camp as the ground is saturated
  19. ment to say say neighbors do not have plots and very limited ag in area
  20. well camp is Camp is down in chennango co. no neighbors have plots and the reason i planted earlier was the rain we had forecast and we did get it, i planted big n beasty and tall tine tubers, I dont think i got to worry about rabitts and chucks, I ve only seen a few rabitts and 1 chuck in 2 yrs, and the way the deer ate this stuff last year bigger may be better, we will see.
  21. So this year i planted July 20th and 21st, last year was august 8th what r the pros and cons of earlier vs later, also if you find one thing the deer really like in my case turnips is it better to have a wide range of plants, i perfer late season foods i do have some clover, and how r wild apples doing mine didnt do anything this year. this is my only second year with plots and like other people in-put , hopefully things go as well as last yr
  22. like everyone has said takes about 2weeks if your mixture was a low precentage due to buying only 16% and adding to much water the weeds where fully grown plus the rain you may not get a really good kill, i buy a 41% concentrate and mow the weeds off wait until regrowth starts then use a little more per gallon like 6oz per gallon and it kills everything, and due it when its hot and dry , maybe 3 or 4 days after a rain and no rain in the future forcast
