Well im guessing the oats are done growing now but overall for the late planting im happy with them the deer arnt really hitting them but with these colder temps and everything browning up they should start

I cant, small game and deer seasons are at the same time and overlap and there both done in the same area/woods , why wouldnt small game hunters be out hunting??

Understand what? they are hunting I never new there was just "Deer Woods" and another woods for small game. Some one better tell the deer not to be around turkeys grouse rabbits etc . Guys its PUBLIC land period.

Its public land period if you dont like it no one forces you to hunt it and as far as property line issue its not your concern .

Practice in the back yard if you can, It takes a few times to get use to it.

this time of year is tuff for midday hunt but if you can find an oak tree dropping or remote apple and its close to bedding worth a shot

I do mine own once the hide is off it takes about an hr from first cut to meat is in freezer , i do pay to have ground meat done its like 25cents a pound. my father had me helping him when i was 5yrs old thats nearly 40 yrs ago

Well the oats came up pretty good they are about 3in, the brassicas germinated but are only like an inch high, Im hoping the oats keep growing till a hard frost maybe get a few more weeks of growth

Im dont know that area but i always try to give the shore guys a wide birth but its on them to get there lines out of the way, had issues before at slyvan beach on particular time i was tied up and parking was tight and a guy was fishing 5 or 10 feet on the wall in front of my boat i could not back up had to go forward he saw that i was leaving never moved his lines,,,, not my problem

I also use to trap up at 430am before school ran a line of 30 or so traps, got of class skinned and if i needed to went and re-set nomoney in it now but back then im thinking coon was 20 to 35 bucks, I dont think kids are into it I use to sit for hours with my old man and hunt but hell after 15minutes my nephew is like this boring, so we walk then its im tired, or cold and no he's not going to use game stuff and phone while hunting....

Whats hard about getting a licenses if I remember correctly its a an 8 hr course and then u can get it?? Some things cant be learned on-line a little hands on stuff is required,, Its been 30plus yrs but it wasnt hard or a reason not to hunt

45lbs of oats on approx 18,000 sq ft... so it was a pretty heavy seeding,,,, 45lbs is good for approx22,000sq ft

7m has alot of state land and decent hunting a few years back last weekend of gun 7 dmps were filled by 6 guys

Well i just got done re-planting one of the failed plot it was the larger of the two , pllanted wi oats and after dragging it spread a touch of brassica mix i had left over, I left a small area that had lots of turnips but really no green plants ... We will see what becomes of it

Some of that is true steve but I think most of us do it to improve the over all quality of habitat on lands we own or hunt . I use to hunt southern edges of adirondaks and loved it no plots just big woods and lots of still hunting, but to each there own I just enjoy doing the work and yes i see more deer now and ccould kill deer without plots if it was just about fillin tags i would never have bought land and built a camp. I would just hit the state land like in the past and fill those tags

ill be at work no biggie i never start seeing decent bucks on cam until mid october have no idea where they are up until then its weird they just show up one day always after velvet is off,

u do it because you enjoy it, hell if you added up the cost of hunting you may not want to do that either
