Started tapping today. Got about 200 in. Another 50 or so to do tomorrow. Thinking about adding a additional mainline and adding another 50+ taps. The squirrel's did a number on our lateral lines. Used 500' of tubing today to fix all the damage they did. Furry little bastards chewed through not only tubing, but fitting's also.

We use about a gal a yr. My nephew and his family use about 5 gal a yr.

The early sap has more sugar and takes less sap for each gal of syrup made, and less time in the evaporator. As the season progresses, the sap has less sugar content and takes more sap per gal of syrup and a longer cook time resulting in the darker color.

Beginning of the season has highest sugar content, not the lowest.

Our test kits came in the mail today. I was surprised to see they were made in the USA.

Even if you tap early, its common the hole will scar over. Pop the tap and run the drill another 1/8". It will open up. Large operations have been tapped for a couple week, but they have vacuum systems that keep the hole from closing up.

My cousin has been putting in since the nonresident lottery started. He purchases extra chanches every yr. His wife was selected in 2019, and he was the sub. He got this moose in zone 19 on the first day.

10yr battery Smoke/carbon monoxide detector suck.

Just to clarify, all the 10 yr battery alarms I've purchased were from HD. But neither HD or Lowes had replaceable battery unit's. I could see one going off if we were cooking every once in awhile, but I've had suck horrible luck with the 10 yr sealed alarms not lasting but a yr or two. Been in this house for 3.5 yrs, and I've been through half a dozen of these things. -

I searched online, and the only replaceable battery alarm I found was a 120v with a battery backup. This one started going nuts at 6:30 this morning. I had just gotten up to let the muts out. -
Yrs ago good friend named his boat the "Master Baiter" told him I'm not going fishing with you.

Last two lasted about 2yrs before going haywire and srart going off for no reason. Picked up two new ones about 3 months ago. One starts beeping this morning. No woodstove, fireplace, or any heat sorce that would omit CO running. Put it outside and it continued to beep for over a hr. First alert brand. I miss the 9v ones. Never had a issue with those.

I've had this same issue for the past two months with my new phone. Absolutely hate taptalk. I've asked mods for help with no success. Every forum I'm on works fine except for HNY.

Buddy of mine sells modular homes. He told me last week the manufacturer is 6+ months out. Supply issues is the main reason. He's waiting on one that's about ready to go except for countertops that are on backorder.

My truck was built in August. Sat in a lot waiting for chips until it shipped in early November.

I know people that own hundreds of acres. They only maintain the 1-2 acres around the house. They don't do anything with the rest of the acreage.

Might work for some makes and models, but This spring I searched every Chevy dealer within 250 miles for a 2500/3500 crew cab LT. None to be found. Single cabs, cab and chassis, or top of the line trim levels were the only thing I could find, and they weren't plentiful. Ordered my truck May 18th, and I'd check every few days to see if one was available at other dealers, with no luck. Picked up my new Chevy November 24.

I just wait until someone warms it up for me. Lol. It's truly amazing how bad a shithouse can smell in -20° temps with 6 guys using it. Year's where there hasn't been lots of snow, I'd walk to shore and fertilize a pine tree. One of my buddies works for a waste water department and brings up some Industrial stink be gone. Doesn't really help. Definitely try the ridged insulation tip.

Good tip, but this sled will never see the parking lot of a restaurant or bar. Only gets used for this fishing trip.

It's a awesome place. Very rustic. Woodstove for main heat source, with a propane ventless heater for back-up. Unfortunately the only bathroom is a outhouse. One hasn't truly experienced a outhouse until you sit on a -20° toilet seat, lol

Just got her out of the shop last week to get ready for this yrs trip to Maine on Feb 2-7th. Started rite up. Ran it around the yard for a few minutes, and ran great. Going to check the slides, gear oil, and grease her up this week.
