Does the salami go in the smoker or oven after? And how long and temp?

I tuck my ladders into brushy spots and try to put them at ambush points. I always have the best shooting spot to my left (I'm right handed) that I can shoot from the seat so there is less movement with the rail down. But usually I am able to stand slowly without getting busted. I usually set them up in between a couple of trees as well to help hide in there and have 2-3 shooting lanes. Def need to use the terrain to your best advantage. I will brush them in sometimes if where I really need to put one is too open. But I have used 9ft stands sometimes cause they tuck in even better in that spot. The more hidden the better Last year my buddy and I were putting up a 9ft and he was in the stand and I was out in the trail. I told him ...what does it look like if you stand up....he says I am standing up. Well that's tucked in. Lol

Sure sounds like you gave it your best. Sure sucks when it does happen. Can't do much but move on and hope for better results the next time. Was hoping to see a pic with you and a deer down. -

Gut shot best to wait for the morning. Not going to find a blood trail for even a good direction in the dark most likely. Like crappy said maybe if a deer search in area call them to help. A dog can usually get on a guy shot pretty good. But I would def wait til morn and hope the coyotes do too. Good luck , hope u find it. -

Hunt #6. 7F lease scrapetree stand. 4-dark. 10/11 Had a button buck and a tiny doe right under my stand for a while. Was hoping there was a larger deer with them. I am not a hunter that needs a big buck but this one was def too small. He peaked his head out of the brush and had two little nubs on his head. Thought for sure a larger deer would be with them but nothing. Still entertaining. He walked completely around me and was within 10 ft of my ladder. -

Back in same spot as this morn. This fella seems pretty regular thru here so since I saw nothing this morn I'm bound to see him tonight right...... -
The future is now! Wow what a buck. Can't imagine what he would look like even bigger.

10/11 7F Scrapetree stand dark to 10am. Didn't see a thing . Corey saw three going in on other side of property. Pulled cam cards and getting a ton of pics now esp on that other side and a couple nice bucks. Best part of day was a deer in front of cam and Corey 4 minutes behind it. Lol. He had to go back around whole end of property to not spook the deer he saw by trail to way in. First scrape too. -
Leave a red rose and a note that says meet me here later for a good time. Guy will leave and never even come back to get his stuff.

If your hunting areas with a lot of hills or mountains winds often will swirl. A mountain or hill can act like a boulder in a stream. Causing an eddy to occur due to the wind being blocked some. Change in temps will also cause this with heavier air dropping into a valley. Sometimes in these areas it might be best to hunt on days when there is a def prevailing wind that day so that you can play it better. But areas of swirling wind are def harder to play the wind. The more scent control the better. Hunting from a sealed blind, using ozone to kill scent on ypur clothes are some options.
-
I start by setting stands up based on wind direction if possible. But it doesn't need to be in your face but the wind needs to be sending ypur scent the best possible way that you won't get busted. And away from the "kill zone" or area you think deer are coming from. If there is a trail or bedding area or area you think is most likely for deer to come out for you to get an available shot then you want to be sure the wind isn't blowing your scent into it. I actually have a stand where the wind against my back is ok because I expect deer to come out to my hard left. A good app to use is huntstand. Download the weather for the day and it will show a scent cone where your scent is most likely to be going.

I am betting no one else is having this Tonite. Lol Wild rice and gizzards. Something my Dad would make on occasion at hunting camp and everyone loved it. Sometimes with rice or make a pan gravy over biscuits. Cook them slow with onions for a couple hours then pan fry in butter and worchishire. I usually have this once a year just cause.

Post every tree there. Put up "smile your on camera" signs, "posted and patrolled" signs. "Violaters will be prosecuted" signs. Really over do it so he "gets the hint".

Hunt #4 6S Mosh pit stand. Dark -10am. Didn't see a single deer. Windy. Pulled 2 cam cards, lots of does and one basket 8 point. No afternoon hunt too warm and it's supposed to storm. Tomorrow looks great. Cool down after a storm. Looking forward to it -
Keep an eye on the sky supposed to storm later afternoon.

We sooooooooo wish we could. It's designated wetlands and the owner signed an agreement. He can basically just cut the existing ntrails only. And gets a big tax break. If we could open it up more it would so much better -

This property doesn't have a lot of deer but enough to make it worth while. A lot of crazy thick swamp and unless they step into a trail there is no chance of seeing them. But this has been our best bow stand. Buddy missed a nice one here last season. And the stand is tucked deep in a big pine tree. I've shot a 5 point here and my buddy has shot an 8. There are hardly any trees except on the edges of the property lines but this big pine is one of the few in the middle big enough for a full treestand.
