love the final shootout in Quigley down under

it was good but loses only because John Wayne trumps all. And the best part was left out in the new movie - where he was whirling his winchester. It was blasphemy. But it is very 50's

mend it. then mend it , mend it, mend it again , mend it once more , before you mend it, mend it again while your mending it might as well mend it. Mend it .

Live From The Woods 2020 Turkey Edition
Robhuntandfish replied to fasteddie's topic in Turkey Hunting
i sealed the deal with one of those on opening day last year. On the tail of a turkey as he was jumping from 3 different fields. Snuck up on edge of field where he was strutting as i got rid of my pack and had that call in my pocket. A couple of light yelps and dumped him at 8 yards! I have a box call i use but i stick that in my pocket - if i think they are close so they wont see movement or if they are just out of range to try to bring them in with a little light yelp. -
i had a mossberg that shot a foot low and a foot to the right every single time. With the slug barrel i killed a lot of deer. But that bird barrel sucked. Shot some turkeys with it and every time i had to put the sight on the turkey then tell myself "up.. over..." then fire. Yeah i got a new turkey gun. lol No problems now.

Time to spray your gear with Permethrin
Robhuntandfish replied to Five Seasons's topic in Turkey Hunting
they do but it only takes 2-4 hours to dry. No sense in spraying a week ahead and shorten the effectiveness. But good reminder. I am not afraid of bears, wolves, yotes or Squatches in the woods- but ticks i sure am! -

Too funny. I do the same thing and think I might have a yard sale and then I can't seem to part with any of the lures. I might need them.....lol. I have a small house and when I moved in the biggest bedroom became the hunt and fish room out of necessity. Glad I am not the only one. You and Andrew make me feel less crazy. -

Oh I've got quite a few rattle baits. I never did great on the wider ones. Was thinking these slab raps might work nice. -

I never did much trolling and I have soooo much gear it's obscene. Lol. But I do of course have a couple. I haven't used them on walleye but I know guys that love them for salmon. Ive been in stages, stream trout, bass and now mostly walleye these days. But i tend to use worm harnesses most of the time then if too rough stickbaits in the canal. -
I have fished that area a bit. Used to live in Holland patent. Caught some beauties out of West Canada. And had some days where they would lay right there and not even look at my lure. Also fished a couple of little brooks up there for native brookies a long time ago. Nice area. I'm not much of a fly guy, I always spinfished. Just once in a while I would flyfish. West Canada is a good one for fly fishing as it's pretty open for casting.

It's spring. Got some new gear. These are gonna be walleye killers. Esp that rapala. It's a super secret color lol. Hard to find and not really for walleye. But it's gonna crush em casting in the canal. Not a big jig guy but put this one together. Jighead is made like an ice fishing jigging rapala, then put a swim bait on it. Think it might work. I like trying out new rigs. The three lures alike in different colors are for jigging too, more like a sonar which so many people use on the lake and I suck at. But these are a little different so maybe I will have some luck on them. A couple of new colors of worm harnesses which is my best walleye catcher. Slow trolling a worm harness is how I fish most often. Also a couple new rods. The baitcaster is the same as 2 others I use for slow trolling and drifting worm harnesses on braid. Great rigs for that. The other is actually a crappie combo that was on clearance sale . Took a chance and ordered one and I love it. Gonna be perfect for casting with 6 lb with jigs and smaller stick baits for walleye. C'mon fishing season! And that rapala will catch me at least 3 limits this season. I know it! -
Thoughts her way. Hoping to hear good news soon.

im staying out til fall. At least thats the plan. 2 reasons - to be sure Trump is re-elected and to see if there is a second wave, either of those two could make a huge drop. I got out a little later than i would have liked but a little earlier than taking a really hard tumble. Still on track to retire at 62 now - need to keep it that way.

Corona Virus Thread

Condolences AT. It really hits home how dangerous this has been in NY esp when it comes to someone close to you. Very sorry to hear. -
they should all be open or opening back up. People just have to social distance and they cant have like open businesses selling boats etc but unattended launches are good to go.
