ok tomorrow is Dec 1, deer season is winding down. Whats on your xmas hunting list? Been dropping hints to the spouse..... leaving the bass pro website on screen for all to see......Yadda yadda - i know just to have family and world peace .....but what are you hoping replaces the turtleneck that someone will get you.... I usually get a stocking full of hand and toe warmers from Santa! and yes I guess coal could be considered hand and toe warmers......lol

happy birthday ! a hunting season birthday is a good day to go! I always take mine off in the spring for a day of turkey hunting and walleye fishing!

One time my hunting buddy looked at me and said " dude I just can't hunt with you today...youre wearing mossy oak and realtree, really it's embarrassing". Lol I agree with Moog. I wouldn't worry bout it. But I def keep a pair of hunting only boots. For scent and always have a dry pair.

most deer i am sure dont have a peaceful death- gotta figure what takes them out - cars, starvation, injury, cold, fell thru ice etc... and of course deer hunting (prob being the least) .

yeah us big guys shouldnt do those things. If i tried that i would have the same fate! Too bad he was a beauty.

i do the exact same thing on the last weekend. One pusher - me- and two/three guys setting. We dont get close enough to be too close , I just try to get the deer moving on trails there way. Was in a couple drives before and all i do is panic about where everyone is - wasnt a bit of fun .

Have tried this before a couple times with a few chances. Try looking for open land that is for sale esp if it has been listed for a while. Send the realtor an email saying that you would be interested in leasing the property for hunting and this could help the seller with taxes. Some realtors won't want anything to do with it, but good ones will at least pass along the info to the owner. Provide all your contact info. Chances are of it has been listed for a while they aren't using the property and might be interested in some help paying for the taxes on property they are trying to get rid of. Bad part is that might sell it and your out looking agian.

Gotta say wherever you think deer might be hiding from the gunshots in the thickest areas and food. Get between them esp dawn and dusk. Towards the end of the year i tend to push closer to the bedding areas too that I left alone during bow.

I think Tfeathers is jealous of the spicy commentary on scent control. Forgive him it is the rut.,...lol And if I were going to flirt with someone on the hunting forum it would be that new guy from Kansas. Lol. Kansas........the does there have bigger antlers than the bucks in NY. I'm actually considering telling my girlfriend I'm going to have to stalk him .....she will understand. Being goddess of the hunt I am sure you do too......

Saw an anterless head pop out of some serious deep brush about 100 yards from my stand. Watched her til dark but no bucks or clean shot if I wanted to take it. But after a 5 hour meeting it was heaven! Was glad I could get out for the last hour and a half of a long day.

i make a rolled steak out of the shoulder like that, comes out great . and yeah gotta agree backstrap gotta be cooked to a medium rare with a little outside char then cut to serve after resting. - My Dad wouldnt even entertain anything but as he was a chef and a butcher. I have a buddy that does the same thing , he puts in the crockpot and says ........but thats the way i like it! to each his own !

every guy here is jealous of Kansas, Iowa and Illinois for sure! But once in a while NYer's come across a big one too!

think that is a perfect plan. And you will have a great time and hopefully your buddies get one! And wouldnt it be something if you got a bear! You would be kicking yourself if you didn tgo and I am sure your buddies would want you to be there too. Have fun

just found out an all day meeting was shortened to 12:30. Hoping to make it out for a pm sit since my afternoon just opened up!

got out to shoot but only a few minutes before dark last night and only bought a few shells to see if that brand would group ok in gun. Last two shots - high one at 50 yards - lower one at 100! Gonna run a few more thru it but like it sofar!

I would say the upgrade in bow hunting equipment. When i went from a bow with no sights, finger shooting to a bow with pins and a release. Made me even more accurrate than i thought it would. One piece of gear would be the range finder. I range three spots around me in the stand that stick out and are similiar, to know ahead when a deer comes in for a good base on the distance. Usually try to pick 3 - 30 yard spots in a semi circle. Cause usually dont have time to range a deer itself but it sure is good to know when the deer come in and the adrenaline is going to have a distance in mind.

i just got casings to make these this winter after season. I was gonna make them and vaccuum seal and freeze in bunches. I got some seasoning that also has cure in it.

i had to do it! got a Remington. Been looking for one of these online and they were sold out everywhere and no backorder. Couldnt even find one on gun broker. Walked into the Oneida Herb philipsons and there is one in the case????? They restocked from a big gun sales weekend and put that out form their stock. 20% off sale on all guns and another $10 off for purchase over a certain amount and a $10 gift card for store points. Then 30% off all scopes as well. So by the time I got out of there the gun, scope, mounts and 2 boxes of shells for $40 les than the original price of the gun alone. Been wanting a Remington - well this Remington. My uncle worked there and retired from there years ago. This was just too perfect that one was sitting there on sale and available !

prob wouldnt work in NY only becuase its NY. Cuomo was just pushing for more ECO's to come to NYC to stop littering in the subway. Dont think Elk will ever make the budget. and i agree on the moose. They prob have a better chance. The focus should be on reviving the adirondack wildlife and doing some cutting and controlled burns to make food sources for deer, bear and moose. Do have to say NY has made a success on bringing back turkeys over the years.

are you in the northern Oneida county area? If so there is a real nice fish and game club in Trenton . They have a great range, pistol shoots, clay shooting, 3 D archery

good for you! Your gonna love it. It quickly becomes an addiction. I already have my days off planned for next archery season! Plus I am pretty sure most statues of Artemis she has a bow in hand!

I see so many more deer during bow season. Def take the class. Bowhunting is warmer so it's easier to sit and enjoy the day. And there is so much more action. You won't regret it and it's really easy to get hooked on. Once you take the class go to a good bow shop and they will help you get hooked up with a bow and setup . I suggest letting a shop help out with that , it will save a lot of headaches. Once your setup just got to put in some shooting practice.

Best day was one I didnt even get a deer. But mustve had a hot doe around me. Saw 15 deer 3 bucks. A big 8 chasing away a 4 point then i rattled him back to me but couldnt get bow back to shoot before he busted me. Deer running all around me all day it was great. Even though I got 2 deer with the bow this was the best day in the stand just cause of all the action. Worst day was opening day of gun - cause didnt hardly see a deer until dark and two of my buddies that always go couldnt this year, so it was weird that they werent there.
