was gonna be off tomorrow but bagging it because of a high of 18 and also should be at work. But still off friday, Sat , Sun and looking to take the very last day of muzzle. I think this was supposed to be the year I filled that tag with a big buck and will be damned if i give up at the very end!

When I look back at times with my Dad it always involved fishing hunting camping, that set the scene for some of those most important times in life you never forget and an outlet to the ones you wish you could forget.

have thought about some more yote hunting and trapping in the winter. My issue is with work in the winter, i operate a transp dept and its some loong hours and days with the weather. But I def would like to thin the heard out there. And getting trappers to come in isnt an easy thing at least around here. There arent many trappers and there are a lot of people that want their yotes thinned. But I will be out a few times. In the winter to catch some days it isnt bone chilling and to want to get out after a 50-60 hour week of work and also have the option of rabbit hunting too. But gonna be out at least a couple times for sure and gonna ask a buddy about trapping .

If you could pass along advice to yourself as a young hunter what would you tell yourself........ Now that you have learned and gained experience. Its a question asked about life but it could also apply to hunting. I guess i would tell myself to buy land when I was young as you will always have it, to be sure to get out and hunt every year cause there were years when I was younger I didnt and to get into bow hunting earlier cause I have enjoyed it so much since I did. And lastly to invent the Trail Camera so that I could retire and hunt and fish all the time! lol

well had to cancel my Thurs (manage a transportation dept and fleet) due to weather as it gets busy this time of year. But still on for friday and am thinking of taking the 19th off for one last effort if needed.

love hunting near scrapes. Doesnt mean the deer will always be there but seems to up the odds that they will be around. Get one with the licking branch above it and does and bucks will visit them. I hunt a couple spots that are active every year and have had some real active days.

Cmon fire wasn't discovered yet.....you just pointed at stuff. Lol Sorry I couldn't resist. Only as old as I feel and I can't believe I'm 150 today.

a grandmother of someone Ive camped with used to spray WD on her worm and hook to catch more fish. That wouldnt seem to make sense but she caught fish.

funny, i change out scopes and get caught in that same quandary! But buying another gun...... i bet we are all for it on this site! A scopes gotta have a gun...... a reels gotta have a pole......

need to start catch and release like fishing.

The white hair is what kept me from pushing on after it. Wouldve thought low shot. But with all the blood I found in the morn and how high it was just don't know. All I know is I wished I had waited an hour and went in again even of it was crawling in the dark through that mess. If I had looked 20 yards farther I would've seen it was bleeding hard and prob down. Course it's all in hindsight. Just sucks and have to move on and take the loss. Just hate losing a deer and see this happen. Better days for muzzle I hope.

All I can think is I hit it back and the long white hair was from the rear end. With the blood on the brush it was waist high. Didn't check any of the ribs etc. It was such a chewed up mess. And I was pretty frustrated then.

Gonna make a potato, corn and venison sausage chowder......to eat after some muzzleloader hunts so I don't have to chew on those tags too.

It was about 60 yards. From the ground with a Remington slug gun in 12 g with hornady sabots. Deer was broadside with a little bit of brush in the way.

I have th - sun off next week. I didn't fill the bow buck tag for first time in a while cause I was being too damn picky. But gonna hunt a spot that I only bow hunt. There is still standing beans and corn so hoping deer flock to it. Never got a deer with muzzleloader so hoping this year to be the first.

The shot still confuses me a bit. Long white hair.....yet the blood trail is on trees perfect height up. And there is spray like it was from lungs. White hair from where the slug came out maybe? Dunno. According to blood trail shot was spot on. Def a tough ending to a good season

Have found out that a lot of "amish" stuff, isn't really Amish at all but made like everything else at a company and rebranded. Not saying those box calls are.....have no idea.. but the Amish store stores around here do this a lot. They hardly a thing there its all just rebranded and marketed as Amish. It cracks me up when you go to some of there farms. No phone etc in the house....but the barn has a phone, answering machine, computer, internet, etc...

It was def the same deer. Blood trail went right too it and it was all fresh etc. Sure is hard to believe that they just decimated it like this. I was even looking for bear tracks but just yote tracks there.

Thinned out one with xbow this year.

It was right before dark though last Eve. So wouldn't have been able to get another shot at. Esp in that stuff it is so thick it is hard to even explain. Sure wish I had wemt after it but like you said I don't know if she was done or not.
