  1. Good luck to you Northern Zone deer hunters tomorrow.
  2. I can tell u this, pics do these big guys no justice. Antlers in hand, that's the determining factor. He's big, no question about that. Good luck, hope to see u holding onto the antlers.
  3. Would tend to watch the trail u blazed in, as the deer will use it now. Sounds like the only area for a good shot. We had a piece on our property we use to hunt like this one. Wild swampy, over grown, eye sticking, just about impossible to access. Still remember sticking a thorn apple spike right in the side if my face. Best stand on the property during the rut. and the deer knew it. Great spot for that " deer community room." It was an evening spot. Mature bucks always seem to show. . Might be worth a little extra scouting. There's no doubt in my mind, pushed the deer into nocturnal sooner. An ice storm ended us hunting it. Seem to have better results staying out.
  4. Always wear the rain suit camo anyways. Might be nicer hunting, with showers Monday. We seem to take the best deer in foul weather.
  5. We'll went to the bank, so I could buy my lifetime license. Figure to need $1235 to get sportman, bow, and muzzle loader. Remember when u could but a nice second hand car for that. At the town clerk office, at the last second asked if they take payments, (joking) then decided to get the ssp for $98, and push it off for one more year.
  6. Great looking spot. Wish u all the success and enjoy.
  7. That was a very nice thing to do. That is lacking in today society. More people need to do it.
  8. Excellent looking for a year like this. Good luck on a kill. Been waiting for the pics to see how things turned out for ya.
  9. If u have ever removed antlers, skull plate, it is impossible not to cut into the brains.
  10. Yep, same here. No bucks as usual. Saw one other eve bust into a field, does and fawns, cleared it in a blink. No part of that bad boy, lol.
  11. I like to clean the hide up as much as possible, just makes it easier for me. . No reason why u can't skin the hide and freeze it right away. Fleshing can be done later.
  12. We'll here goes; Coming back from a shopping excursion last night, I had a nice, nice, and nice buck cross right in front of the car. He came to a high fence and couldn't jump it, to close. He came back into the road right next to us, and flew right over that wire. All to the amazement of my wife and I. Been scratching like mad ever since, lol.
  13. Some great replies people. but the last post, well how can u top that one? That's just not fair, lol.
  14. Something I never knew. Yes, Celebrate National hunting and fishing day. We're going to have cake and ice cream in out tree stand, lol.
  15. Thank you. It's been a good turkey year here too.
  16. Most enjoyable thread. When I saw the title, just knew what was in store, lol. My brother in law said he use to be married to one.
  17. This youth hunt isn't a fool proof plan. It has some things built into it that could go terribly wrong. And I know, save me the answer, if your that worried, stay home.
  18. The only other advantage taking to a dealer, would be a dealer would look for problem areas, as they keep track with "service bulletins " with are sent out by OEM. They might catch a problem before it turns more serious one. Also, OEM dealers do have to cover themselves by doing good quality repairs. Their over head is much higher then the back yard mechanic, but u expect to pay for the knowledge they bring forth. Believe me, until you own a dealership, one would have no idea.
  19. Can't put my finger on it yet, but something feels different about the SL 10-1 opener. Edit: Never will be completely ready but, it's going to be fun, no matter what.
  20. Are they any good for $20? Have a $10 gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket for SG, LOL.
