G-Man replied to sailinghudson25's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Now when has are brown and its cooler. Not middle of day. And not shorter than 6 in.. shorter will just allow grasses to grow as clover shuts down in heat.grasses tend not to -

Never scoped, did get a hammer off a 50 caliber pistol in the forehead when I shot a doe on tip toes looking over a brush pile. -
promoter. Is not my favorite ,jordon buck is still more impressive it's just a 10..., as are many others for me. Breen buck comes to mind as well.

Was wondering what are the oldest trail cameras that are still being used my members.i have a trail timer that uses a camera attachment that is 24 years old . It uses a solenoid to depress a button on a pocket 35 mm owl camera. My next oldest is a 1 gen cuddieback that has had a software upgrade that uses a large flash card. I have a few other caddies that are 5 to 7 years old that work though it seems they re more sporadic every year.

My cuddie night pic are top noch I'm not a big fan of ir and night vision cameras in general but when your camera are 10 years old and manufacture wont repair anymore I needed options. As for the new cuddies I was turned off by customer service and cost for what is basically a new body. I have Hope's the new pro hd browning may make me happy but it's the night pics I want to see.

He pro came arrived. Very easy set up. Set a couple out will check in a day or two for picture quality and capture. I'm comparing them to my caddiebacks. That I used for years but are getting to be on their last legs..

For those that say full body mount. I skin this buck for a 3/4 mount after it got to taxidermist he recommended this mount as the little bit more white that would of shown was not worth the jump in price. I deferred to his judgement and am.very pleased. They were 2 all white does with brown patches on their heads for several years on my.property they were both poached and heads cut off. I assume this was one of their off spring though. I think he kind of looks like the joker with the extra white making him smile.

Deer love weeds!! I highly recomend you really study the area before you destroy what may be a natural forage and cover area..

Before you make it a plot..is it nesting for turkey or a fawning area? Plots are nice but overgrown areas are important for other things I've learned the hard way. ..losing fawning cover for a pot is bad idea. I did it took me few years to figure out what happened to my doe group.. they left area for better fawning cover. I now put that plot back to natural grasses and forms. It's used 10x more in daylight than plot was

You can keep a doe family on about 40 or 50 acres depending on how the land is laid out. Deer dont stay in square or rectangular home areas. Keeping a buck past 1.5 is nearly impossible with out a fence. In the summer bucks have different needs nutritionally and may stay on 30 acres. Ask my neighbor he loves his trail cam pics of bucks all summer on his place and then fall comes and poof they are all gone.. If your talking keeping bucks during hunting season Best thing you can do is make you property as thick and nasty as possible. Then take half the land you have and make it a sanctuary( no hunting or walking through or shooting into) Visability should be 50 yards or less and you will keep bucks on it as it's a safe secure area. They will leave to feed / breed but will return.

I have seen the 1st rabbit on my property in 7 years this spring. Guess coyote control works..

Depends if you want hot or cold smoke. Smoking and cooking or curing..

Easier to just build a planker.. just stack some 2x8 or larger width by how long you want lap by 2 or 3 inches and spike together drag behind..breaks levels and smooths all in 1. You can add cement block for weight if you don't have it long enough to stay in contact with ground.. 5 planks or more seem to work best

Hope I catch you.. my life is run by the train schedule
