  1. wheat is usually followed by a legume..then following year corn..
  2. crayfish will keep your weeds in check. i recommed you do put fatheads and crabs in this year. let them get established. you wont regret it. chinese trapdoor snails are another good thing to start this year as well as their live birth is great forage for fish and they filter a few gallons of water a day.. take the time and talk to a few different hatcherys. its well worth it. i stayed away from bass and bluegill and went with perch crappie and walleye. bass unless fished or have a predator will quickly overpopulate amd stunt. i wish the hatcheey i used was still open man was a wealth of knowledge. but old age and retirement came . best of luck
  3. brush needs a steonger % mix to kill it. but it will.

  10. i was asking for the old pinned season dates from 2016-17 be removed from their pinned state and replaced with the new.. makes the site look amaturish and not updated..believe me i know dates.. just was discussing the site layout. as for our seasons not changing we dont even have a season next year till legislature votes on it no matter what the dec projects for dates...
  11. please take the time to stock it properly. start with fatheads and crawfish.. (make sure they are pond crayfish) a 1/2 pond can only support 250lbs of fish. proper stocking of species and quantiy is of.most importance.. ive seen many ponds overstocked and stunted or muddied up by grass carp that are unessary if propery built and stocked.
  12. not to be a pain but the pinned articles for hunting season dates on main page are quite old..can some one please remove them and put up the new info for 2018 2019.. 2016 was a good year but i hate to dwell in the past..and it think it would help the site look a little better ...jmo
  13. im sure they lost some staff with the fire closure..people have mouthes to feed. change in staff and loss of skilled cooks may be the blame...hoping to try it this week as i have an old friend in town and we are trying to meet up. that has been my place of choice for its atmosphere and food quality ..hope i dont need. to look for a new place when im in town..
  14. 6 to 8 in rows work well but you need to remember agriculture fertalizes heavy when planting narrow crop rows same holds true for corn.. i would not go wider than 10 in as you want plant to cover the ground to prevent weed competition. in. higg herd densities under an acre plot is a waste of time as theu will decimate it before it cann grow with out measure taken. to prevent it. you can mix into corn rows as well at 4 corn for 1 soybean .. corn can provide climbing structure for it as well as hide it from deer giving it a chance to mature
  15. most bucks ive seen are behind last years growth. perhaps it was the lack of spring as a season. we went from snow to 70 in a day.. not much chance for a green up. apples seem spotty as it was to cold or heavy rain when blossoming. hazelnuts seem fair . acorn and hickory are sparce as well.. hope food plots come in well and take up the slack...
  16. i have never seen a tick on my property or on any deer we have taken and ive walked and worked in the woods with short sandels and a tshirt for 25 years now. the neighbor down the hill had one on her dog this past spring. idk my hill gets pretty damn cold. its strange but ill have snow on top and it will be raining at the bottom of the road. ill keep an eye out for them more perhaps but i love the -20 weather that kills them off..
  17. interesting for guys without a tractor maybe add to your wish list..
  18. mid sept. bucks are usually on neighbors all.summer and show up when they become hard horned. ticks him off to no end that they move off his and on to my place .. different seasons they need differernt habitat.. its why i really dont care about big boys in velvet. rather see them hardhorned and in season using the property
  19. marlin 1895 guide gun in 45-70gov browning bps game gun winchester lever action .22
  20. id like it but 4.5 hour drive for me..
