  1. Small lakes are fine, I don't care for the bug lakes..
  2. Ohio you need written permission if it is posted or not posted, it keeps tresspassing down as you have to present it upon being asked..
  3. Glass is my last resort, I'll take slate.over glass or.slate.over slate first. But glass is a good foul weather call as they work wet or dry
  4. Grew up with penoras, santoras, uncle sammys, and tropical reef in depew/lancaster many of my friends worked at this places. Though uncle sammys has the best and freshest toppings...
  5. Scotch bright, on slate 400 grit paper on glass surface Sand paper on ceramic ( 80;grit) Scotch bright on acrylic strikers and wood, and gum cement tipped, Fine sand paper on copper, and carbon strikers (old arrow shafts work well.) I stay away from sand paper on wood strikers as it can change the tip rapidly, same on most surfaces..
  6. True but you can get ahead of them and scratch the leaves.. killed a lot of birds that way. I even got one the gobbled every time the horse across the street whinnied. The tom wouldn't come to calls but got close enough and scratched some leaves and he popped up at 30 yards
  7. I use many to locate roosting birds the evening before., I have used them later in am when I was much younger and had success but I rarely stay out past 8 am anymore , I prefer to roost evening before and kill my bird earl in am , so much to do the rest of the day
  8. I worked maintanance at playboy club / executive hotel in the summers, minimum wage back then I think was 2.15 an hour
  9. Haven't been there in years, seems it's turned into a atv, boatshow, outfitters are there but most good shops don't seem to attend anymore. I ll save the $ and just shop on line or local

    Curious

I've hunted with 3 that are members here
  11. Anyone headed to daytona for bike week? Leaving tomorrow myself should be a good time!
  12. I never hunt past 8, I get my.bird roosted the night before and get it in the am..so statically I c ant say I get more birds at any one time because I only hunt 1x.
  13. It's the same everywhere , a loud obnoxious voice is heard, the majority lays silent.
  14. This is true but there are no row,all track that passenger runs on is owned by freight companys... we will never have high speed rail as Eisenhower left that couse long ago when he backed the road interstate system.

  16. Working for a class 1 railroad, the whole thing cones down to $$ massive layoff of maintainers, track workers to save the bottom line. There was a time after contain was broken up that csx did no montane at all because contain over maintained the track, that led to massive slow orders and eventual action taken by the fra. We have reached that point again....
  17. A lot depends on the care of the mount and not the tanning process, putting over a fireplace,.smoking, exposed to sunlight, over a heat vent ... all.can damage a mount
  18. Value may be few dollar an acre to more if he intends to work the fields at some point. And remember they are cutting them so you save time and fuel not having to brushhog
  19. Grasses will grow back, a lease is best to protect you and if large enough area is going to be leased it can give you a tax break as well
  20. Use to save fans and bears, and spurs, got way to cluttered, now everything goes in the burn bin... have a full mount and 1st fan and beard and spurs saved.. that's enough, leaving enough other mounts and things for family to deal with when I'm. Gone.
  21. That was a great buy!! 2 wd is all you need , even in cars and trucks. I get a kick out of all the city hunters that come down and can't make it up the hill with their 40,000 4wd pickups, while I'm driving 80 miles back. And fourth to the city in a 20 year old rear wheel drive mustang...
