Track, scatter and call back is what I've always done, but recently I did go with dogs and as I get older the scattering gets easier using them, can't run to fast anymore, that dam age thing creeping up on me

I go by what I see on cam and just try and take the top 3 0r 4 bucks I have on cam, rack character is unimportant, but I'd shoot a piebald or any strange physical trait in lew of top bucks...

I know last year the rut was late as was expected by me, and I know it does vary, Nov 1 to 18th, with best 3 days somewhere in between those dates, but I think knowing it's will be early.or late lest.me pick when I want to be there

Yeah I can't find the new police rounds, antique, was hoping for a simple cut down fix....
-
Is it possible to cut down a .38 special case to make a .38 new police case, I have a couple of old revolvers that need .38 new police rounds and I have had trouble finding them, think they would be fun to shoot rather than just a colectable. Any one every try this?

I have used one in a field and my.friend took his best buck over it, after it cleared my to short for tall guys trimmed out window, some kind of motion. Is key to a decoy for deer imo

Not looking forward to appeasement deer management,

If you ride them every day in your woods at a similar time of day perhaps the game will get use to them, same as a farmer on routine to milk his cows every morning and evening is ignored by them. I have a small tractor we use to retrieve deer ,but we do it at lunch and almost dark most of the time.

I don't allow them at camp, walk in walk out,saw to many big bucks head for hills immediately when hearing them, opening day of gun or weekends you may get away with it as Others are using them and moving deer unknowingly to your party, but I and neighbors own large tracks and it is dead quite all year in the woods, surrounding properties are small and the deer head to my nice quite woods as soon as they start up their rides and the big ones move in the week before when they are checking stands and riding trails scouting.

Glad they lift it, o-line is more important than qb, if they can protect 4 to 5 seconds our average qb will look amazing, let cassel start while the o line develops. Let the young guys develop, remember these qb are going against a top 3 defence in practice every day, can't wait to see them against lesser defence in preseason.

Yes loose powder is way to go I have a 54 great plains that can make a clover leaf at 75 yards with 85 grains, had an. Old timer have me start with 55 grains and work up a load for accuracy increasing 5 grains till you hear a sharp crack, if you go over that your just throwing unburned powder out the barrel (flames look good but not outside the barrel) I have guns that shoot 70 grains (Kentucky long rifle), 115 (kJohnathan browning mountain rifle) that's so hard to do with pellets.. accuracy is my first concern

I do not agree, find the food in spring and find a bear, cut cornfields or standing corn that went unharvested are huge draws I could kill a bear every spring in my 6 acre standing corn as its the only food available ...

Well not to me but I was with the guys at camp, one fellow came up and saw some turkeys we had got hanging and since he had his permit but no shotgun (was bow season) i lent him a 10ga single shot and took him out to where the turkeys were, he sees on pulls the gun up and nothing I yell bull back the hammer, he proceed to hit the ejection lever breaking the gun in half and ejecting the shell over his shoulder, the turkey just ran away.... Another time my friend who is a gun safety nut, brought down his gun and opening morning of gun takes it out of the case to find that he doesn't have the key for the lock,I told him I cold get it off but the lock would be shot, he said ok a quick run to the shed for a cordless drill and the lock was off in less than 3 seconds, drilled the keyway right out. (Useless things that they are) he quick got out before opening light on a perfect morning and got a nice buck. One serious one, had a friend carry his father's 870 pump over his arm (no sling)across a long deep snowy field, when he got to his stand he radioed he was all set, the drive pushed deer right to him, we heard 2 shots from his spot, snow had filled the end of his barrel unnoticed and he blew the barrel with the 1st shot but didn't notice it as the gun was scoped and the flower at the end of his barrel was not in scopes line of sight, he took second shot and then saw out the corner of his eye a leaf of metal, he was very lucky and it was the closest person I know of to be that lucky not to get hurt.

Assuming round ball and patch? That's a lethal combo, Esp thru the lungs! And no meat to lose!

You need to remember a wmu is large, though you may be swamped in doe the rest of the wmu is not... at least that's the theory behind it, their swag on deer numbers is a joke, they need mandatory deer checks, (yes that means more staff and stops by dec officers at camps.. but it's the only way to het a true grasp on deer numbers and wmu sizes, I remember when 9m and 9w were 1 unit, which I loved as I hunted both when it split I had to pick one area for my doe tag.

No its not baiting under nys laws, but the trees would have to be fairly.freshly downed to be a draw as deer will pick buds off a tree pretty fast.Esp if only a few
-
No acorns here, apples heavy in spots other spots froze out.
-
Well I can't see baiting ever passing our legislature, but I wonder what the chances are for a spring hunt for bear, their numbers are climbing every year and the are becoming a bigger and bigger nuisance. The dec complains that there is no tradition of bear hunting in nys, but I believe a spring hunt would create one, what else is there turkey? their numbers are down in most of the state, I'd give a few days up of hunting turkey to hunt bear in spring or every afternoon..and hunt turkey in am.

If you were going to farm it, you would want to deep chisel plow it to brake up clay hard pan and leave topsoil on top, to aid In root and water drainage, hog radish and turnips will do the same over time , lime to balance ph. Buckwheat, or red clover to plow under to help build nitrogen and organic matter, for a few years and then a clover, cerial grain, rotation. A 16 In plow will be set to plow 8 inches deep, or just disc if you can't control depth oe roots will be problem. Fo almost all your food plotting partial shade will be better than full sun as soil is thin and will dry out, your biggest concern will be the ph as leaves every year from oaks will raise it.
