Good to hear you figured it out....

i'll say 3.5 if it was in my area deep chest, but yes its before rut and neck will swell but can see well defined brisket. His hindquarters should be filled out more if he was older.this is a know 3yr oldI was fortunate enough to get a few years ago, photos were late sep and 1st week october for comparison.

You shoot to much for groups and think to much about them... 1 shot a target.at a 3d range or 2 different targets aunknown ranges are best practic. If its within. 3 in of where u aimed your good to go. I know many great target shooters that wouldn't be able to hit a deer 5 yards from them. Groups are not important... a single shot is. Most missed shots are from misjudging distances..practice that more than anything.

no frost here... imagine that....lol maybe i'll start a weather blog and just put everything in there to cover any possibility. I'd be just as accurate as these goofy weathermen....

i dont rain on anyones parade, but its hard not to hear a story of the monster 8 pt someone got to see it in person and its a yearling.. perhaps buck fever is more to blame than anything. but i always take a sighting of a big buck by someone with a grain of salt until i learn/get to know what he considers big. Imagine a friend who harasses you to come hunt his property and get a monster and all you see are his monster 1.5 year olds. you gave up a good spot that held 120 cals bucks to hunt this buck that must be b&c to see it score 100 in. you cant get what doesnt exist in that spot.
-
you can only educate those that want to learn...sometimes its better to walk away....
-
What is a big buck to you? I had a friend show me some pics of monsters he has on camera. They are some 2.5 Year olds. Small to me maybe 100 in. But monsters to him. I try and be polite and smile and agree but it gets old fast. I feel like a funeral director trying to look sad at his 1000the funeral. I hear it needs to be a big 6 or I8p before i'll shoot it. But i have seen many 1.5 Year olds with 8 plus points. I like mature deer 3.5 And up on my property. Points and spread dont matter if its 3.5 Or older its a shooter to me.

Anyone every find pot plants well out in the woods
G-Man replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in General Chit Chat
Found 14 plants once called cops... -
For what you had to pay for bow I'd take it back to shop and get another one...

A single deer running at full speed is tough to tell how big or see spots. Especially at 70 yards. Was a perfect shot thru both lungs. And he got 11.5lbs of boneless meat from it. And he is still teased relentlessly about it. Several years later. But being over 60years old who cares. It prolly would not of made the winter as it was heavy snow that year. and he still says was the tenderest meat he ever had! We process all our own deer so fees aren't a concern.

We do whole ears by blanching and freezing. Off the cob by cutting off the cob.

Ground is still warm and so is water.. can't see frost except on insulated rooftops happening. Weather service says scattered frost... sounds like they are covering their butts. Personally.
-
I hope not...if its from Don Paul I'd say def not..he overreacts to everything by at least 200%

Won't mention a name but a friend I hunt with killed a 27lbs button buck during muzzloader one year. Still had stripe of spots down its back. Was so smalI i thought it was the heart and liver bag at his feet when i went to retrieve it. with tractor...... he swears was the best two sandwiches he ever ate....

i took one once off the ground years ago at a spike buck at 10 yards (was nearly full frontal) will not do it again.. long track job called in deer search, not found. buddy shot buck next year as screwed up 4pt and recovered my arrow (27 in) lodged under spine incased in a sac. everytime that buck tried to curl up the arrow acted like a rod in its spine.. had to be awful pain...never doing that again.

i have a friend that does bow all season including muzzloader. to each his own. once you shoot a bunch of deer the method by which you take them becomes a priority. i ran the gammut myself and even went to blackpowder pistol(single shot 50cal) to make it harder and harder on myself. having taken deer with everything but spear and crossbow(i would try if they were legal) its just more important to me now to set someone up in a good spot and see them be sucessful. its all about scouting and setups for me now...

lol, gotta stop educating those deer.....

1.5 oz liquid and burn it

Why doesn't the new content button work anymore? I go to forums click new content and nothing found pops up?

I am usually done and out of the woods by sept 1. Deer wont abandon their range but will shift to a quiet area of theirs to wait out intrusion. After all the 5 acre camps around me hang stands and ride around on atv's scouting , the quiet area is my property. I've seen it happen for years.....
