1St DEC doesn't care about mature bucks, 1.5 Year olds can breed. Population numbers are primary concern (whether to make hunters/farmers/landowners happy) as for. Buck limitythey can go on but do not charge me for a full fee for all my tags. Learn to hunt, learn to get permission to hunt, learn to manage habitat, and learn to manage your own property with in the Dec guidelines. Way more important than DEC regs/ hoping for an easy way out. If the place you hunt can only hold. five Deer per square mile, changing how many points a deer has to have is not going to help that. You can't stockpile big bucks and the closer the ratio gets to 1-1 the more broken racks there are.. most people won't shoot a big buck with a broken rack!! Damn horn hunters!!

private land By far not filling out tag immediately. Can't say I know anyone that does , usually wait till back at camp before deer is hung, so much easier to write/cross out date at table. Public not filling tag out correctly/completely. I think everyone if checked could get a ticket in their life not doing it properly 100% of the time

Did they measure your drawlegnth with or without a string loop? Sounds like your over extending your arm causing your arm it kick in toward bow cable/string.
-
they use population estimates and focus groups, landower/farmer input.. most areas high/high lack public lands so its hard to control population

Poults I've seen here are small 3Rd nesting most likelyy. But have a bruiser of a tom coming in every day...he's got a long.beard and a great set of spurs!

With the "monster buck" craze I see leases popping up more and more. Taxes keep going up and get nothing for them. Hunting one day will be a thing of the wealthy as the average Joe won't be able to afford land of their own or lease any. They will become disenchanted with public land as more and more hunters are forced there. Though the old farmer who's land you hunt and help out on let's you hunt for free , his kids most likely will not knowing you and seeing a financial gain lease it or sell as they don't live and work on athe farm. This is becoming a "War of attrition" and its happening right now.....

I know some wildlife management areas do clear cutting, hanging bog, cranberry hollow in allegany county.. they have quite a few deer as well... hmmm...Lol state land in general way to many politics involved I guess.. and lack of fund for foresters in state as well

And that's the way its done. I would bet you lose that property within 5 years. i Would. Lease my own place for that much in a heartbeat family or not... taxes paid... nice!

I have friends at work that hunt and complain they don't see deer like they use too. When I ask where they hunt they tell me the same place they have for last 20 years. My next question usually results in puzzled looks. What have you done to the property to help them? The answer is sometimes food plots, usually its nothing. DOES ANYONE REALISE THAT WOODS MATURE??? The brushy draw they once hunted is now 10In diameter trees?? All habitat is not created equal, if your not seeing deer in the area your in don't blame three DEC look at how the habitat has changed! Food plots won't help if the deer need to come thru open woods for a mile. They might come but it will be at night. If you can see 2oo yards. How far do you think a deer can see.?? Maybe if they are pushed/driven. But before blaming someone (dec, neighbor, tresspassers, coyotes, demorcats, republicans, ect) look at your habitat!!: deer are a factor of what a habitat can hold. just something to think about while your sitting in your stand asking yourself where have all the deer gone...

. I don't see where protecting buck will restore the herd in your area if its depleted..doe are the ones that have fawns... don't shoot doe There then!!

. This state cannot be likeKansas or Ohio or Iowa. Land parcels are too small, hunter numbers are to high. Period, so unless 90%of hunter are going to buy licence and know they will be eating tag soup stop deluding yourself. Can we have bigger bucks yes, older more mature deer, yes. But average parcel of recreational land is 30 acres here 50 if your lucky.i Am not going to post total hunter numbers per state you can look them up yourself but being realistic is what we should be. 130 - 140 in bucks will be about best we can get.. unless 90% you included are willing to eat your tag for a chance at a big one every 5 years or so.

My goal is to get my friends daughter in front of some deer during the youth hunt,if she shoots or not is up to her. My second goal is to get a friend in front of a buck during bow so she has opportunity for shot.

Friend owned one of the last cabins within the state land (state bought it out and tore it down ) years ago but he has a lot of impressive racks on the wall. I would think that there are still deer like that are there today. ccan't answer for opening day but sound like your willing to go extra effort and will do well. -
good 2,5 or bad 3.5 around 115-120in

your local county co-op should have classes on tractor safety and operation. farmer is good idea but eventually you will want to do it yourself and get immense satisfaction from it as well.
