saw a smallish 8 out of velvet today, maybe 100in. i'm sure there are rubs but all my stands are hung and i stay out of woods till oct 1 now. let all the surrounding camps push deer into my property with their atv riding and stand hanging during the next month....

i never have just 1 on a hit list usually 2-3 min. usually all bow season for them, gun season is more social for me but will hold for the hit list then as well, and muzzloader is time to get a doe for the freezer.

Buck do not bed with doe unless highly pressured, or during rut. Stop looking for Deer sign and look for buck sign (there will be rubs from previous years) even if the buck that made them is killed another seems to take its place.usually the thicker the area the better! Its always better to be in a place to get a deer that you might see, than in a place to see deer that u might get.

What I am talking about, is if you food plot, you want to place your plots strategically. Many fallow fields are bedding areas.(think crp fields) your better off with a bedding area than a feed area. Just because a field is not used by a farmer doesn't mean its not being used by game in another way. I started food plotting back in 93 and made the mistake of clearing a fallow field. That was prime bedding late season (south facing slope surrounded by woods) the deer came to the plot but started bedding on my neighbors who intercepted them on way to my plot all iI am saying is before you start dropping/making plots everywhere know what you may be removing that maybe more vvalue able to your place.

Shoot a bunch of sifferent bows in your price range at an archery shop. Which ever is most comfortable in your hand while holding and drawing, shooting with eyes open and closed is the one you want. Its all about fit... not manufactures.....

buy the way good work , i'm sure it took lot of effort to do that craering and you should feel sence of pride in doing it.

not used by farmer, but be careful that field may be fawning cover/escape cover. plots look fairly small. more to plotting than just clearing and planting old field... just a word of advice for future.

you can use any cream soup you like/ or marinade, its all for moisture and flavor.. like i said don't know how to prepare. take a 22 lb tom, take 2 breasts off, 8 lbs..leave another 8 on bird to be tossed? turkey salad sandwiches are great as well.

Good work shop focused on 2nd and 3rd stage successional forests. visited multiple clear cuts in different stages of regrowth. the look of horror on some people s faces at new cut with 10"tops and slashing everwhere was priceless, when asked what do youdo with the tops the answer was always leave them!!! when you see the benefit they provide 5/10/20/25/30 years down the road it will amaze you. and yes info was given out and ny does offer free accessments as do other states, and some financial help is available

legs ,back and wings have a lot of meat on them especially on a big bird. oven cooking bag with cream of mushroom soup low temp, falls off the bone and is the best turkey you ever had. terrible waste to toss them because your to lazy or don't know how to prepare them properly.

Most people hunt, hike, live work withing 1/2 mile of road. can't tell you number of big bucks I see along tracks, and no I can't get camera out to get pic in .time. Ever see a coyote in the woods? Can you get camera out fast enough to get pic? Get em on trail cams but there are lots andI only get a few pics of them a year. Make it 1 animal andI may never get one.

The one cat that was killed was documented by foot prints and feces. They just kept the information non public till it was killed. We do not live in an open information society. When it was killed the genetlicly traced it using feces. Breeding here no...wandering thru yes. Elk have been seen in NY no ear tags wandering thru pa line. Not breeding here..but here none the less. Friend had one walk by a stand several years ago, raghorn bull. Again no ear tags. Animals move.
