WNYBuckHunter
The only thing hysterical about any of it is that some are actually trying to reason with a flaming liberal using common sense. We all know liberals dont have that capacity.

ants
I applaud the mayor's willingness to legislate what the general population is too stupid to do for themselves. Obesity is a huge epidemic and sugary drinks are one of the primary reasons for it. I see this as similar to the taxes and restrictions on cigarette purchases. Thats just it ...you and your ilk think that you are so much smarter than everyone else that you should dictate how they live. Sit down for this....... Your WRONG !!! Given your statements I can assume that you are in favor of people using food stamps to only buy fruit, vegetables, lean meat and whole grains. thats it.....right?? SteveB
Not baiting at all. These products have no nutritional value and are a major contributor to the obesity epidemic and a huge drain on the health care system. And their purchase is a 100% optional choice. Sogaard
What about the many fast-food type places that offer free refills? How does the law address these places? Can they sell diet soda is cups greater than 16oz? For the record, I think this is a stupid law and I will be surprised if it stands up to its first challenge in court. Culvercreek hunt club
Hey Virgil. so you are basically in favor of basing our decisions about regulations and laws on the public cost and the inabilit of people to make wise decisions for themselves. That is about what I am getting. If we want to save huge money that will pay divedends even in upcoming gererations, how about force sterilization of women and men that have children but are unable or unwilling to properly support them? Since we have so many kids that are born to that plight and then end up in the same boat themselves it could prove benefitial to break this cycle. Since concerns about freedom are secondary and cost should be first.

Diet sodas are exempt. so pour the chemicals down the kiddies throats just not the sugar.

Let's ban high heel shoes because it gives woman bunions. Let's ban shopping carts because teenagers and strapping them to car and taking them on joyrides. Let's ban guns because some people have used them for the wrong reasons.
Culvercreek hunt club
Justso I understand the Liberal stance...you know the stance with no contradicions in logic. it is OK to tell people what to to with their bodies when it is soda but not ok to tell a person what to do with their body when it is a pregnancy. got it.

Hold on a second there. This is *NOT* a liberal stance. This is King Bloomberg at work. He ran on the Republican line in 2001 and 2005, and as an independent (on the Republican line again) in 2009. Don't try to lump him in with Democrats because you don't like his policies. He ran (and was elected) as one of you.

Sogaard
Tag him as liberal all you want for his policies, he is not a Democrat and I know very few Democrats that like him or his policies as a whole. And I know a *lot* of NYC Democrats. In other words, we don't want him either.
Culvercreek hunt club
I didn't call him a Democrat. He sure does seem to be dug in for no one wanting him...lol. Maybe we need recounts on the elections
Sogaard
He is the perfect example of why this country needs massive campaign reform. If you can spend twenty times what the other guys can spend, you can get elected, no matter how much people disagree with you. Felonious_Monk
How is it not an assault on freedom? I work for my money. It is mine to do with as I wish, so long as those uses do not bring harm to others. If I CHOOSE to buy and consume a 406 liter bottle of Jolt Cola, how is it government's job to tell me I can't do it? My body. My money. MY SODA. mxsmitz201
i just went through the drive through window at KFC and bought a MEGA sized drink of mountain dew. it was SOOO BIG it came with a BUCKET HANDLE and didnt even have a hole for a straw, just a closable gaping hole with a nicely engineered ergonomic path for the soda to go down my throat. GOSH DARNIT IT WAS AWESOME only in AMERICA can you find shit like that GBA BABY GBA. for one I cannot believe this bloomberg douche is getting away with his dictatorship, and two, i can think of a million other worse and more important things to address in the city of NYC than what size drink i am allowed to buy. if i was a NYC citizen i would exercise my right to overthrow such a POS government. the day will come when the people can take oh so much shit spewing from big governments ass and things will change. i dont mean in an election either, probably wont see it in my lifetime, though i hope i do 'cause lord knows something needs to happen.
