Here in central pa we had about 2 inches of rain and wind. Winds were gusting to about 50 mph lastnight. Never lost power in my area but around 2500 people were without power in my county. Had some water in my basement but nothing bad.

G&R Cop- Everything alright with the house? Glad your family got out safely

Wow those winds were unreal!! Trees down, limbs down... What a mess. It could have been worse over here so thank god it wasn't. I feel bad for my uncle on the south shore in west Babylon, right on the water. Sunday at 5pm before anything started happening, his street already had 6" of water . By yesterday before he evacuated the water was up to his front stoop!

My best to those who did not fair as well .

Looking on the TV this morning, I couldn't believe the destruction. Fortunately for people in our corner of the world, not much actually came of it all. We got a total of 1.81" of rain according to my rain gage, which over that many hours (over a dozen hours or so) didn't really create flood conditions. Water did come up in the ditches along the driveway, but not really to any extent that was ever a threat. The swamp is up, and I really don't want to see too much more rain. But the ravines never got cranking, and it really didn't rank anywhere near the top of a list of storms that we normally go through in any year. The winds were kind of heavy but again, I have seen a lot worse. I think we dodged the bullet. On the other hand, they are showing the rest of the path of Sandy coming north out of PA and passing right over top of us. I understand it's supposed to be pretty wasted by the time it does that.

I do hope that those along the coast manage to recover without too many personal and property effects. Some of what I am seeing on TV makes you wonder how some will ever recover.

Made it through. Internet mostly off till a few minutes ago.Trees down, roads closed, structure damage etc.But only house that did'nt fair in my immediate area, too well was the neighbor, who had a small pine fall on his house causing some damage.Power was off and on through the night.Wind was real bad around midnight, started getting concerned about the house for about an hour.I will need to go out after my coffee and check the roof shingles. Hope everyone is OK.

I'm pretty much on the PA border(10 miles). No property damage in my neighborhood. Power stayed on.

There was a loss of life just across the border in Susquehanna County,PA. An 8 year old boy was killed by a fallen tree branch just before 5:30 yesterday.

It's not my tree but I will probably be the one to get rid of it as the neighbor who it belongs to doesn't take care of his yard let alone worry about something that is on my side of his fence . The fence is 5' on his side of the property line and the guy has only lived there about a year . I talked to him once when he was out in his yard and the guy is a lazy jerk .

The ground is soft back there so I will have to wait to drive back with my trailer to cut up and get rid of the tree . Bow season is more important right now . Just thankful that we didn't lose power .

I walked our 73 acres today...had a few large maple and some smaller maple bass and ash down...cleared trails of debris....

I have to say Sandie did me a huge favor...one of my better stands was very near a ancient rotted maple....I knew it was due to come down and feared that with our normal winds it would take out the stand...which by the way weighs a "ton" and not easily moved...I feared it would happen with me in it so I've only used on non windy days....Sandie took care of it for me...I just have a little trimming to do and it will remain there,,,sadly it also took out a good maple and scarred a couple of others...The deer will bed here...reason being ....it is right at the end of a long narrow lane way they feed in..... and is a corner they have always cut across...I found two new scrapes 25 and 30 yrds away

Now what I find amazing...she blew down lrg and small trees...but was no match for this apple tree...lol

my card board/tarp blind made it through...need to get more mouse poison though...they have gone through 2 boxes...the big shooting house door was blown open....yep floor/rug is soaked wind rattled dead bolt open...

Not many Islanders reporting. 90% are without power. Many friends along both shores lost homes and boats. This was real bad, I lost power for 6 hours, I was a lucky one. Had many family and friends bringing over perishables and taking showers here today. It may be a while till we are back to normal. This weekends rut hunt may have to be put to bed. Be safe everyone!

Aye, no power still. But... I have a generator, internet, TV, heat, and beer!

Spent the whole day cutting this mess up with my father-in-law. Still have to hire someone to grind that stump / cut the bottom. It popped back up into place once I cut about 5 ft from the rootball... Then see about fixing my sidewalk and walkway.

Thanks for asking, I had a little damage to the siding and it ripped the service from the meter but all in all compared to what happened to others I can't complain. Where in Central PA, I use to live in Bloosmburg

Islip Long Island, I have a 70' widowmaker leaning on my house, no damage, it leaned over nice & gentle. Lost power for 7 hrs, no rain really at all. This section is one of a very few with power. Niece's house lost the chimney and some roof damage due to a couple of trees. Her in-laws live 200' off the water in Freeport, now they lost the whole shebang. OIl and transmission fluid all over from the marinas, 3 or 4 boats, big ones, on their property. Half the Schooner Restaurant is somewhere in the bay. Other niece's in-laws had waterfront in Wantagh, they lost everything, cars included. Partyboat Miss Freeport 65' is in the street. Ocean Parkway lost the eastbound lanes. Irish Riviera at Breezy Point burned down. 7 beach mansions at Davis Park are in the ocean. Moriches and Shinnecock Inlets are much wider and a few new ones opened. LIRR is just opening hourly service to Ronkonkoma and Great Neck. Boardwalks are all gone. All the sand at Long Beach is in the town of Long Beach, looks like snow in a blizzard. In a nutshell, we're f'ked. I'm working from home and will be for the foreseeable future so my deer season is gone, maybe I'll get muzzleloader.

I was able to find a guy (well its no guarantee till he shows up at my door) that is coming with a dump truck and a machine to yank the stump. Called at least 30 people, either they are not doing stumps this month or they are trying to charge an arm and a leg. This guy was reasonable and available to come this afternoon. But again, nothing is solid till he is here yanking it out.

Still now power in the neighborhood.
