noodle one
I was down to the store this morning and ran into a friend of mine. I asked how his bow season was going? He told not to good because he wasn't seeing that many deer. I said that was hard to believe because I always would see deer anytime I was down that way. In back of his house is a deer haven. He told me that his part time neighor had sold it this pass spring to someone from Connecticut who was building a new home on other road . He had taken a walk down there in the spring and had seen new poster up on every other tree and had not know that it was sold to someone new. He found out that the people were there on the weekend ,so he took the time to look him up the following weekend and interduced himself.. His old neighor had given permission to hunt and build all the trees stand he wanted to and every year his old neightor told him every thing was good to go.He asked the new neightor if he could hunt and explained that he had been hunting there for ten years. The new neightor told him no and that he didn't want anyone on his land and he got down right rude with him. My friend said ok and thankyou. The weekend this new neightor came flying into his driveway and ran up to the door and started banging on it. When my friend open the door and before he could ask what he wanted, this guy wanted to know if the treestands on his land were his. and that he wanted then down now. My friend told him that yes he had put them in there years ago with permission from the old land owner. He told this guy that when he bought the land he also bought the tree stands and if he wanted them down he would have to take them down himself and closed the door. My friend told me if the guy had been decent about asking he would have said no problem and would have gone and taken them down., but he didn't have to put up with guys BS. He told me that no one is hunting there and he knows that the new owner dosn't hunt. Do you think he was right with what he did?
Dan92
Imo. I think what he did was right... Its the new neighbors land. Like he said they are now his treestands
Geno C
i would have done the same thing .. honestly if the new neighbor took a better approach i would have helped him take them down. But in all fairness, the new owner took ownership of the property and everything within in so he is now the proud owner of a bunch or permanent tree stands... i mean if your buddy helped the old owner put up moldings in the house and the new owner wanted them down is he responsible to take them down? lol no...
joe12
Exactly - if he didn't want the treestands there he shouldn't have bought the property or he could tear them down himself
Geno C
I would think before you purchase property you walk it. If the buyer wanted them down before closing then I'm sure he could have worked something out with he origonal owner and the person who built them. I'm sure something could have been worked out if addressed from the start
GreeneHunter
If the new guy asked if you could help him take them down in a manor befitting a gentleman I'm sure you would have helped him , but with his attitude I would not have ! God forbid you trespassed to take them down !
ants
Same thing happened to me a while back on land that bordered ours. We had permission to hunt it for years. It was just a narrow strip maybe 80yrds. wide that ran between 2 properties. I went in there in the spring to turkey hunt when this goof comes running up to me yelling that he bought the property and how I was trespassing. I told him that I had no idea the land had been sold and that I had been hunting there for years. Then he pointed out an old tree stand that I built when I was a kid. When I told him it was mine he told me that I had to take it down yelling the whole time. Long story short I told him what he could do with the stand, rusty nails and all. So yeah I would have done the same Edited November 12, 2012 by ants
nyantler
Thats what I would have done.. I would have added that the neighbor not expect to be invited to the neighborhood picnic where I would be cooking up some juicy venison tenderloin!! lol
Guns&ReligionCop
Your friends did everything correctly and sounds like the new neighbor is a real (*&69!
Doc
Considering the attitude of the neighbor, I probably would have laughed in his face and invited him to leave.
Pygmy
I'd have told him to stick HIS treestands where the sun don't shine..
covert
Personally if I already knew the guy was flighty I would've just told him "nope" when he asked if they were mine.

WhitetailAddict11
Props to your buddy! Could have been handled completely different on the part of the new landowner, but instead he chose to take the "dink" route, and got exactly what he deserved.
