jusputtn
How did it happen? How about because your "90%" stat is a fabricated figure. BTW, you also forgot, again, to mention the Democrats that voted against it.
jusputtn
Strength of pro-gun support may vary be region, however the Constitution is not regional. The Senators didn't fail, they listened to their Constituents. It's what they are supposed to do.

PWGUNNY
Another overly dramatic and incorrect statement from Barry Obama- "a minority of senators decided it wasn't worth protecting the nation's children" Sure Barry
Doc
Once again, the NRA shows the power in being organized. Those who haven't yet joined the NRA ...... take note.
Early
Actually GUNOWNERS OF AMERICA played a large role. Support them as well as the NRA. This makes it so obvious why Herr Cuomo cirvumvented the legislative process to push through his SAFE ACT. Now, we are left to overturn it...if it can be overturned.
Five Seasons
I actually had no issue with background checks, however I was pissed to see the president release a statement claiming special interest groups have got in the way of protecting the safety of our children. It has been said by both sides, that these new measures proposed by the feds and the safe act would not have prevented sandy hook. The school was locked and the kid broke in. What would have stopped him? Not a metal detector, only someone shooting him first. I'm so sick of them using the death of these children to push their socialist agenda. Propose the measure you want if you believe it'll keep guns out of the hands of criminals, but stop pretending this would have prevented 90% of the school shootings. All of those shootings were done by non-criminals who could have easily obtained guns even if this bill passed. The best part of the safe act? higher penalties for shooting first responders and selling guns to criminals (result of webster shooting). Nobody disagrees with those. But 7 rounds, AR bans, registrations etc? they do nothing to prevent school shootings. Pressure cooker shrapnel bombs are illegal and they still happen... people suck. some people are evil. Stop pretending like you can just legislate evil out of the world. Edited April 18, 2013 by Belo

silent death
They want to start a war they don't care how they start it . Either they will get their votes or the gun bill will just get pushed through . Dhs has been prepping for this for a while...we are just seing now what cards are govermant is willing to use...doesnt matter if it is terrorist or us gun owners it seems to me that our govermant puts us in the same category as them. Which pisses me of as should you if you own any kind of firearm . The term we the people means nothing to the whackos in the white house ...
