Pretty sure Danica brings in a ton of sponsor $$, with little to show for it!?! I foresee her following Juan Pablo within a couple years back to open-wheel racing.

Will be interesting to see how Smoke's (Stewart-Haas) super-stars do this year. Lot of big egos all within one team...?

The #3 car resurrected...That's just plain sacra religious!

BTW - If you ever get the opportunity, take the tour of the track. Banking on one end is absurd, 31deg! Track wasn't busy the day I took the tour, so they parked buggy and let you go to bottom of track & look up the banking. Unbelievable!

I hold season passes for as long as I can remember to our local track where real racecars called supermodifieds race.  Im a pretty big race fan and I will be the first one to say NAPcar absolutely sucks, has sucked since the stupid race for the chase started and they took the racers passion out of racing.  I remember when there was a 5 year waiting list to get a seat at Bristol, hell its had empty seats for the past 5 years now.  Been to many Nascar races over the years and no more.  The super speedway races like Daytona are the worst of them all.  Lets ride and fight for getting to the back to avoid the big one and last 6 laps hammer down.  When fuel mileage is the biggest factor in who wins and who loses its not racing any more.

Sadly & reluctantly I have to agree with above sentiment. Under the French family dynasty over NASCAR since the 1930/40s, the latest monarch (Brian French) has removed any resemblance of this being a spectator sport into a Wall Street marketing scam. Any more its' solely about sponsorship money, TV time $$, product licensing, showmanship and basically how much money they can "suck" out of the fans. Hell I can remember decades ago when you could watch one of the rare ABC Wide World of Sports airing of a race and you could actually distinguish a car's make/model. Back then, if another driver wrecked you, you forced him off the track & got in his face w/o worrying about being PC, point deductions, fines or suspensions. Nowadays, divers are more worried about having time to Twitter their fans during a red flag than the actual race situation!??!

Oh yeah, the allure of auto racing at its' roots, the local dirt or asphalt tracks. Bunch of buddies working every evening in a garage after their regular 8-5 jobs, pooling their available funds to put a car together that hopefully gets through the heats & into the main event race w/o wrecking. Price money wouldn't even pay for weekly repair parts, it's all about local bragging rights! The proverbial "money-pit" racecar and the "die-hard" enthusiasts sitting in the bleechers, couple of beers, comfort foods, roaring engines, exhaust fumes, burnt rubber and cheering on their favorite local driver! Redneck heaven..!

I forgot to respond to this........We did the tour in 1994 IIRC.  I still have the black Chevrolet coffee mug I picked up in the souvenir shop.

It was very cool trying to walk up that embankment!  That and the sheer size of the entire facility is just amazing.

BTW, although I sound like a huge fan I'm not really.  That mug is the only piece of "NASCAR" type gear I've ever bought!  Went to one race back in about 1999 or 2000??  Watkins Glen of course.  It really wasn't that big of a deal.  I wouldn't ming going to someplace like Michigan.

I like to hit Lancaster or Holland once or twice a year.  Traveled to Lake Erie Speedway in 2011 for a race, very nice facility.

No not really lmao.  I guess he has his 1 in 3 year win under his belt, so hes good for awhile.  What I find really even more stupid about Nascar is that sealed him in the chase.  What a stupid stupid stupid race format they keep coming up with.  That will be his only win for the season, many others will outrace him like year after year after year, many others will have better, more consistent season, he could wreck every race from here till the chase but hey hes in it.  How stupid is that?
