Any Hear About This? 9 pt Doe?

My g/f was on FB, and showed me this vid. Was a 9 pt doe? She was lucky for a few years I would say...

Something is fishy.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.  Antlered does are always in velvet because they don't have the hormones that cause antlers to drop.  They stay in velvet and continue going through a growing cycles. 

Again I could be wrong but I have never seen an antlered doe with hard antler.

I don't know about the velvet. My guess is over time it will rot away and fall off. It's not real velvet. It's like the coating on a sumac.

 

Just thought it was interesting, and trying to get right how a horned whitetail doe could amass 9 pts.

Yes and no. My brother shot this late season a few years back. It's nutzz were deformed. We did some research but it's not gospel.It can also be caused by the likes of a leg injury say a car accident. Now if a deer doesn't drop its antlers it will develop cauliflower antlers 'shaped like cauliflower' that is even rarer.

I have seen doe with horns not in velvet. Saw a beauty down in Watkins Glen one year and it had hard horn.

My friend shot an 8pt doe as his first buck a few years ago in our town. Was hard antlered.

My uncle shot a 7 or 8 point doe that was in hard horn

Yea, a friend killed a hard horned 8pt doe back in the 80's on the west side of Honeoye Lake.  The DEC was called in Avon and they sent a guy down to document it and then it was mentioned in the Conservasionist Magazine.

Heard stories, seen pics, but never a video clip. Would be something to shoot what you thought was a nice buck, get ready to gut it and get a surprise.

i heard of 2 antlered does taken this year and i also took a nice 6 point that had no sack poor bugger i think he walked out in front of me on perpose
