Buckmaster7600
Hello all, I'm still a newbie to hunting with a handgun "4 years" just wondering who else hunted with a handgun and what you use? Do you also carry a rifle I have a few of the magnum wheel guns and 2 45colts but I have been carrying my glock20 exclusively.

FX62
I hunt with a Remington XP100 chambered in .35Rem. It's topped with a Leopold scope. I've taken many deer with it out to 120yds. I took a nice doe yesterday on my way to my stand as a matter of fact.
gmil6184
I made my first handgun kill Sunday on a mature doe. S&W 629 in .44 mag. Only second year carrying the handgun. I have always carried a rifle too. I'm too chicken to carry just the pistol, for fear of seeing a big buck at 200 yards or something. I am using the stock iron sights, I don't want to make it any heavier by adding a scope. Ammo are my handloads, 300 grain flat point hard casts I originally loaded for bear defense in Montana. The bullet passed clean through and shattered both front shoulders on the way.

eagle rider
Got a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter 44 Mag that I have used in the past. Not really a backup sidearm type thing. I use my duty Glock I guess you can say when I can't remember to lock it my truck LOL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Buckmaster7600
I had 2 main drives to get into it , I love bow hunting but I will not carry a bow during gun season and I kept buying rifles that were lighter and lighter and still not being happy with them. My 36oz loaded glock 20 is just perfect for hiking 15 miles a day in the ADKS.

Culvercreek hunt club
They are only about 12" extended. Most times I am in a box blind with it and that works great on the window openings. If I am out and about with it I have a double trigger stick. I also have a Harris bipod I use on my rifles that will no from probe to sitting. Pretty stable but haven't tried it yet. Biggest issue I have with this gun is finding a holster for it. May have to go custom because of the rifle for end I used.

philoshop
Thanks Pygmy! Here are a couple more with a 14" .223 barrel. A 300 yard woodchuck setup, though my best is 280-ish. The 'furniture' is curly maple with cocobola center. I made them in the mid 1990's or so. The forend on the .223 barrel darkened up right along with the grip because they're in the sun together a lot more than the .44 barrel above. I changed the angle and length of pull with the grip so that it fits me better than the factory ones. It's probably my favorite gun.
Pygmy
I thought it was curly maple... VERY fine firearms, my friend.. Be STILL, my beating heart !!....
