Ground Blinds...Snow?

How many people hunting eastern or central NY had their pop-up/hub ground blind decimated by the snow the past two days?

I am wondering how my pod blind in Geneseo has fared . I will check it out Saturday ..........

Mine has more of a cone shape to it and it never holds snow. Can't go wrong.

I have had them tore up by the snow too. I have one that needs poles replaced, as they snapped off due to snow loads. We had another one destroyed last year. They arent very good for snowy climates to use for a season long structure. Short term, yeah they work great unless you are leaving them out through a snow storm. We are working on building a couple of shooting houses, and a couple of more permanent natural style ground blinds.

My double Bulls have never failed me I have 2 that are 6 years old and they go up in August and down in January. Hunted one last night and 1 this morning just brushed the snow off when I was done for the sit, and we had a little over a foot of heavy snow.

 Put a 2" x 2" piece of wood floor to inside top in the center of my Baronett .350 just before it snowed, it is standing up just fine with all of the snow and sleet we had the last few days.

I think for my blinds next year, will put some 2" dowels on possible pressure points.

I have a vine tied to mine from above plus I have a big stick I put inside to hold it up.

My blind has been out for 3 yrs, this yr I have a few holes in it. Will buy the gorilla tape to mend it.

My blind in southern tier on my friends property looks like a cow sat on it.

I was at mine today and the roof had caved in and two of the fiberglass rods had popped out of the retainers . The blind is fastened to a platform . I went to Walmart and purchased an extendable golf ball retriever , cut off part of the round end and used it to prop up the roof after I left the blind . Hopefully , it should keep the roof up on the blind .

Gotta put a support pole/sapling in them, I paid 40 bucks for a replacement hub and supports last year.

mine was decimated by the heavy snow, next year buying the replacement plan with my new one.

The branch thing may work out. Depending where I put them. Still might use a dowel or 2x2 in the center as a secondary.
