Zem18
I did Restaurant and kitchen gigs throughout high school and college. Then I worked for a food service distributor for 12yrs and worked up into management. Position was eliminated in 2006 and I was hired as an Assistant Manager in a dry grocery warehouse. They sold in 2010 and now I am the Warehouse Manager for a local screen printing and embroidery company.

I don't really want to know, just still amazed at the amount of things some of you have done. I was never fired, but 2 of the local machine shops "let me go" because they hired under false pretense.....back then the labor laws were lax. A company would hire you, work your butt off and when the Gov't contract was completed, they would "let you go" with some made up reason like " we don't see that you have enough exp to remain with us here so we need to let you go. Well I had enough exp to work there for 2 years and you had no complaints and even gave me raises, soooo?

phade
All you people with many, MANY multiple jobs..........how many times were you FIRED from a job? I don't really want to know, just still amazed at the amount of things some of you have done. Never been fired, and I had to think about it if that was true, which is weird. I have however put in my two week notice and received counter offers a time or two. While it is an advantageous situation, I personally don't enjoy it because I am burning a bridge. Burning bridges is a forced/learned skill for me; not something that comes naturally and is a weakness in my skill set. Anyone can be replaced is my mindset though; that might be why I am worth a penny or two. Interesting note on the jigalo comments - When I lived in VA, I had a neighbor who owned a Viper, a Corvette, a nice Abelmarle 24' with Yanmars, and he was 23ish. Never could figure out how he came into money like that despite having wealthy parents. He wasn't from the area and had just got out of the Navy after a few year stint. Turns out he started a male escort business. Not my kind of interest, but he earned some serious money. His father was a successful financial advisor and after buying the cars/boats, he started investing heavily into a diversified portfolio. Last I heard he moved to Florida and pretty much stopped working by the age of 30, and bought a nice house on the water in Ft. Lauderdale. Elmo
Forgot to list one job...for which I did get fired from...technically speaking. Was a sale associate at a major retail clothing store during college. I decided to stay there over the summer afterwards instead of going back home. Never missed a day. I asked for a week of during Christmas break so I can head home to visit family and my boss told me I couldn't because Christmas was their busiest time of the year. Understandable. Two weeks later, another sale associate who we all thought was a slacker and a brown noser asked for an was granted the week off during Christmas. I said screw this and took that week off on my own. When I came back to hand in my name badge, the manager obviously fired me. Problem was he said it before I could utter "I quit" so technically, I was fired.
