Eddie, it will be happening. I can't even begin to tell you how many people I talked to had no idea about this regulation. It blows my mind how many go prepare for or start a season without reading the regulations. But as we see on here, it happens every year.

It has been talked about here . It has been on the local news TV and Radio . It has been written about in the New York Outdoor NEWS . So , if someone hasn't heard about it , they must live under a rock .

I can see guys not knowing , and I'm not making excuses for them but......

Most hunters have not even heard of this forum much less visit it, same for Outdoor News, and a 30 second news story is easy to miss since, many never watch TV news.

What I don't get is don't they ever talk to other bow hunters ? it's been brought up to me by every bow hunter I know.

Also throw in the NY Hunting / Trapping guide that Comes with ones lic. In my world it would be bolded in Orange on the cover. It's not even mentioned in it under " Highlights of Changes " !!! You have to go to the maps of seasons to find anything and even then there is no separate text on it that I could find.

Still it falls on the hunter to know .

You mean the ones I haven't been able to get for 2 years when I originally got my license? I had to make a special trip to grab one because they were out both years. I don't know this year, because I haven't gotten my license yet.

I get my license online, they dont send you a guide with it.

You can walk into most any  WalMart , DICKs , Town Clerk's office and pick up a NYS Hunter Regulations Guide . Last year the Webster town clerk's office had a stockpile and I picked up a few in the spring time for the DICK's coupons ( $10 off $25 purchase) .

In the past 3 days I've had a few different people texting me asking is it true that I can't shoot a buck for the first 2 weeks so and so told me I can only shoot a doe.

Its crazy that non of them knew about the change and another crazy thing is each of them were hunting in areas where the change didn't effect them at all but they had people giving them bogus info.

Ya well opening day , evening hunt a slob of a buck 15 yards behind me with no clue I'm there. Now in all honesty he never gave me a good shot angle even if it was legal. But I'll say this I'm not im a hurry to hunt again till the 16th. Although I'll try maybe two mornings in stands that are more doe stands away from thick cover.

I'm usually that bow hunter you're talking about. Every bow hunter I've encountered in Westchester and Queens doesn't know about this new reg when I bring it up.
