Deerthug
with her frigging JEEP!!!! So I'm at home at about 6:30 getting dinner ready when she calls me up and tells me she was on her way home on Wheatley Road through Old Westbury and the Brookvilles (Nassau County for you Northerners) when a large bodied 6pt ran into her driver's side front fender, bumper and head lights causing damages to our Jeep. She's fine but just sore and shaken up. God was watching over her as if she were going a few MPH faster, it could have hit her driver's side door and really hurt her. I get to the scene and I see two cop cars down the road and the cops looking for the deer and not paying any mind to my wife. First thing I say to her is "I drive 2 1/2 hours north during the season and I see maybe one deer, yet you're the one that kills one in our neighborhood." LOL! Of course this was after I made sure she was OK! After preparing a police report the cop says to my wife, by state law I have to offer it to you. Without blinking, I said yes and of course she said no. The cop started laughing and says: "You must be a hunter". I said yes with a big smile. Needless to say she won the argument. No worries, I tell them both, I'd rather get one the manly way!! LOL! Now it's time to bring the jeep in for an estimate and repairs. Being in the business it looks like at least $2500 to $3000 in damages. Thank the heavens for still having collision coverage on my 2009 Jeep Patriot. (Maybe it will be totaled out and I'll get my pickup now!) LOL!!

Deerthug
Cop said this was the 10th deer accident since the rut began. I told him they should open bow for this area of nassau. He smiled and shrugged his shoulders. This area is close to a preserve and several deer have been seen within a mile radius from the ax scene. hunter49
Glad she is ok. We have been there done that but with a little extra. The deer hit the pass. side scared the hell out of my daughter & wife. We had the car repaired . Then two weeks later the wife & daughter were at a stop sign & a drunken deer hunter on his way home from a gin mill turns & runs right into them hitting the other side of the car in the same place the deer hit them. Had the car repaired again at almost the same cost. lol about it now!

DirtTime
Glad she wasn't hurt. Mind if I ask why she didn't want the deer? My g/f would have been trying to drag it into the truck while she was talking to the cops. LOL

Two Track
Glad she's ok. Should have kept the deer ... pre-tenderized already. Think of it as a reparations for damages and mental anguish (YOU BROKE MY CAR!!!). Last month $4500 in damage to my mother's Altima, never located the deer. Dad got even and shot one 2 days later. About 3 years ago if i swerved right instead of left, I could have gotten one with my Cherokee after hunting all day. Of course that ended up being the last deer I saw that season. Wife had one deer run into or push off the side of her mini-van - 2 blocks from the house. Only a small minor scrape on the side of her car. About 20 yards was another car on side of the road - same thing happened to them. Never found a deer then either.
Deerthug
Glad she wasn't hurt. Mind if I ask why she didn't want the deer? My g/f would have been trying to drag it into the truck while she was talking to the cops. LOL I think she was just shaken up. Never killed anything before. She doesn't mind when I bring home my kills the last few years and she gets into the cooking of the meat but I think this was just too close for comfort. As I guessed the estimate from insurance is $3,023.00 and that is without putting the jeep on a lift. Hopefully that will be done this weekend. I pray that there is no chasis damage as in my past experience once the chasis is bent the vehicle never drives the same.
Deerthug
Heading back up this weekend with my son. Hopefully this buck's cousin will show up in range with a few more points on his head. I'm ready for payback!

Deerthug
So the insurance offered a rental to use while the Jeep is being repaired. Her choices were 1. Chevy Equinox 2. Chevy Camaro 3. Maserati Ghibli Which do u think she chose? The Camaro - nice coupe muscle car with big engine. Dang it's got power!! I know which one I would have picked .... - Deerthug

They set it up through Enterprise Rental Car located on the North Shore of Long Island which explains the Maserati offer.
