Lots of neighbors have been getting in some handgun practice today. I'm popping apart logs and they're popping off rounds, so I was distracted.

I wandered over, of course, and got to shoot a brand new Ruger LCP and LC9. New guns to me and I didn't hate 'em, but they'd take some practice and/or break in for sure. The LC9 has me intrigued. Lots of punch from a gun that's not much bigger than a phone, and it was very manageable.

Tractors, chainsaws, splitters, guns...welcome to a brand new day.

What a difference a week makes! Beautiful sun and warmth  compared to figid wind chills and minus 21 degrees  Sunday morning. Todays weather should make the maple sap run !   :rolleyes:

 

The trees run here Friday  afternoon for a few hours. Some of my old standbys ran into Saturday until the sun went behind the clouds. Not the sap flow of mid to late March but, some of the lightest golden amber syrup I have ever made.  Monday will be my 3rd boil down day.

This coming weekend and into next week, the temps will be back up into the 50's again along with some sun!!!! If this is Global warming, I'm all for it!!!

Also, I have read that this coming April, May, and June are to much warmer than usual too!! Good for the polts!!!

My friend is having a fit.

 

This up and down extreme temp changes are playing havoc with her maple sap production/season.

 

I hope for her (and ours, it's delish!) sake the weather stabilizes and the sunny days stay warm and the nights cold.

going to go enjoy today for tomorrow a half inch of rain is due..but look at night temps...Thurs. night will be WAY colder:

 

 

Wednesday 02/24 100% / 0.55 in

Rain likely. High 41F. Winds E at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a half an inch.

 
Wednesday Night 02/24 80% / 0.37 in

Rain early...then remaining cloudy with showers late. Thunder is possible early. Low around 40F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

 

Thursday 02/25 70% / < 1 in

Rain showers early changing to mixed rain and snow later in the day. High 41F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

 
Thursday Night 02/25 70% / < 1 in

Snow showers early becoming more scattered later. Low near 15F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 70%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.
