Nomad
Im out on the ,SS pos with Mrs. 302 when I see something off to the side in the water, birds I figure except it's to brown . Turns out to,be these two deer swimming across Irondequoit Bay just south of the bridge. The wife is saying don't scare them they'll get tired. I stayed back killed the motor for a bit . I tell you'll once they. crossed , I figured they catch their breath for a bit , nope full speed up a VERY steep hill . moog5050
I have seen them swim the south end of the bay near Southpoint, but only along the east coast. That's a pretty ambitious swim across from east to west. Good thing there was limited boat traffic. The_Real_TCIII
They are amazing. They say the deer on Block Island swam there, it's 13 miles of shark infested waters

Nomad
Thanks. An IPhone combined with bright sun and well driving a boat , I wasn't even sure I had them in the shot ! Gotta watch for driftwood this time of year, didn't figure deer as well.
NFA-ADK
Cool pics! I was hunting in Cooperstown one year and I saw 2 doe, looked like a mother and yearling, run across the road and basically dive into the lake. I was like WHAT THE? Then I noticed a bunch of coyotes stop at the top of the hill that where chasing them. Crazy! They knew the lake and or road with many people would save them, amazing. The coyotes did not have venison that night. Cool story Larry302!
Rockspek
Thats pretty cool. I almost ran over some deer on Canandaigua lake a couple years ago. Most of their body was under the water. I thought it was an upside down picnic table but it was actually their ears sticking up.
132 eight pointer
That is amazing. I never would have believed deer swam across the bay like that.I thought they only crossed when the water was frozen. NonTypical
I have seen them out for a swim many times here on Long Island in the great South Bay, montauk, and orient point. Just last week I saw 2 swimming from shelter island to northaven near the south ferry with a screaming tide. They are excellent swimmers.
