It's a great diy get away hunt. Cabin is costing us $500 for the 4 days and we will be bringing all the food we need from home. Cabin is all setup with all the kitchen stuff you could need. Wife usually just prepares dinners before we go and we just need to heat it up. Saves a lot of money this way. Last year I only spent $500 in total on the trip. This year we are gonna be down a man so it might cost me $600 this year. I consider it a extremely cheap trip with chances for a booner buck

Definitely sounds worthwhile. Can't get much more affordable than that. Good luck out there!

Giving it a go on the far side of the field very low pressure and is where the big one was coming out all year tucked in off the field with hopes of him making a mistake deer seemed to have hit a wall this week after opening day wall around here 7f my area anyway

Just got to car. Snow and rain clouds and I couldn't see squat the last half hour. All day sit = zero deer seen. I hope to get a gold star on my report card for participation. Eyes are whacked from staring into wind all day. Back in the trenches in the morning.

Last minute buck! Watched it feed its way towards me until there was only a minute of shooting time left. It's down about 50 yds from me. Time to get to work.

Went to Rivers blind and hey Biz...I used my hickory oil lure...I had a fawn feeding about 122yrds down the lane way . Then about 4 another deer joined it...gosh glassed it and it looked like a really young doe the fawn was a bit smaller than her...finally they start my way and I'm still not quite sure at 58 yards I was almost off the fence and it turned broad side then swung it's head around and over the sweet spot to chew it's back...Well that gave me more time to think...then suddenly it turned and went right into the brush...lol Figures...So I watch Mr B drive by at 15 after...I get home at 10 to 5 and his first words words where were you? See anything..after the second time he asked..... I rolled my eyes and said just tell me...Well.....as I was pulling up a nice sized 6 or 8 trotted out of our hedge row across the street and right past the house into our woods 50 ft from the front porch.

Wonderful was going to put out the decoy and sit in the garden blind...but the wind was so bad I figured if I went low it would be as rough and the deer were probably low as well...So much for that!

9H. 34 degrees 13 mph west wind. Last 5-6 miles of driving went from 0 to crappy real quick. No snow and dry roads to snow globe and slippery Still falling pretty good. Will hunt til I shoot a deer or noon , whatever comes first. Soooooo, noon it is. There has to be a deaf, blind and one that can't smell out here somewhere! Good luck to all headed out.

I just said to Larry 302 last night that now is the time of year to be optimistic.  Last year I saw some doe throughout the regular season and not one buck until the last week of it.  And that buck I shot, it was on the last day of regular.  The deer are out there.  If you stay optimistic you will probably be more alert.  The other day I hadn't seen anything and I said to myself there are deer out here.  Almost the next minute a doe got up from her bed in the bushes in front of me and teased me walking through the bushes for the next hour or so.  She was right in front of me the whole time.

I'll be out there before sunup.  Wonder what the weather is doing here?

Head gasket perhaps ?  Wife's and brothers head gasket on their cars leaks. Keep the coolant and oil checked and they're good. Hope you get it resolved and get out hunting tomorrow

Just hopped in stand. Nice little breeze. Cool temp. Little damp but mostly clear skies.  I expect to see deer soon.

I am taking it easy for now,still have my buck tag left but already have three deer in the freezer. Maybe I will go after one more.
