Election Results Present Conservationists With Challenges

Recommended Posts

Just another example I can use to illustrate I am more independent in my thoughts than any particular party, though I mean right.

I think overall the right's view on climate change is wrong. I'm not sure trump still dislikes the EPA but i think that was one of his views originally that it was not much use.

Are there naïve people who believe that any one party will foster policies that 100% agree, across the board, with their own beliefs. You do all understand that that only happens in fantasy .....right? If you have a mindset that is 100% in lock-step with any one political party, beware of how easily you apparently are influenced and controlled ..... lol.

For those things that you have strong convictions on, you may have to work on influencing those policies within the party of your choice.

Seems I have heard this before...Republicans want dirty air, dirty water and destroy all the forest. What a joke. What they want is to use common sense. Something it seems so few people have these days. Like an article someone posted on here a while back that if the keystone pipeline was built it would possibly endanger some beetle. That's the kind of thing that I hope common sense prevails and we tap into our enormous amount of natural resources...

To paraphrase a quote from an idiot on this forum,

"Trump will continue to lead a life you can only dream of."

If he has zero sense, he sure did well for himself in life.  This forum idiot's common sense level must be somewhere in the negative one million area.

its interesting that as outdoorsmen we find ourselves on both sides of the aisle when it comes to hunting/firearms.  I'm just generalizing, but for the most part we are on board with republicans as far as the 2nd amendment, yet find ourselves on the democrat platform in regards to nature and preservation.  yet it seems like the overwhelming majority of outdoorsmen lean to the right when it comes to voting.

anyway.  i found the article interesting and F&S seems to do a good job on reporting politics when they give their input.     so lets try and stay on topic and not go down another road.

Thank you Diplomat. That is an excellent article that should be read by all hunters and fishermen.

I have had little time for huntingny.com lately. In spite of my reluctance to participate in the politics forum, I am making this one comment before withdrawing into obscurity again:

I consumed a lot of news over the past year and find I have no idea what Trump believes. All I know is he is self serving - someone who needs more money, power and arm candy - and will do whatever he thinks will serve those his self interest. Except for appointing judges to please 2 single interest groups, I have no idea what he will do. The Supreme Court judges are a quid pro quo transaction he cannot avoid. Everything else is a mystery, a guess, a gamble. Be prepared to be surprised, and disappointed.

Oh, there will be plenty of people who will get surprised.  Talk about someone who has been a waffler on just about every topic, it's been Trump.  Even the gun issue is far from a sure bet with him.  I've long predicted that it would be a republican president who would sign the first significant gun control measures in this country.  The republican majority senate and congress of course didn't want to pass any new laws with a democratic president in office just for the sake of not going along with him.  Now that a republican is in there the game will change.  Lets just have another couple of high profile massacres with firearms and you'll see what will happen.  If you think republicans politicians aren't afraid to get shot by some loon with an AR I've got some news for you.  Trump is exactly the type of guy who would help make it happen since he says one thing today and will say something else next month.  Buckle up boys, you may regret what you wished for.

We already have a trump victory thread and several trump/Hillary threads.   Post this stuff on there

This was an opinion article on conservation.  I thought it was a good one.  Maybe some didnt.  But i thought we would last longer before we got derailed with the typical off topic stuff.  Lol.

The trouble with the article is that it's all speculation based on fear and loathing of Trump.  It may turn out none of this comes to pass.  Why does F&S feel the need to attack Trump when he has not even become President yet?  To stir up opposition, that's why.

Any respectable magazine waits for a real threat to occur, prior to calling it's readers to take up arms and start a war.

It's like Cosmo calling for the castration of all American males, because they might rape someone.

Lol.  Im cool with the trump thread.  Its whatever.  and i realize that politics and hunting are intertwined.   We can debate the topic without memes and name calling      Thats my take

idk if u are referring to me weeping but i didnt give that impression.   I made it clear that hillary was never my choice.

I just posted an article that was relevant to outdoorsmen.  they brought up valid points.

In all fairness. If you read the article you would see a link that was there in regards to the Second Amendment. It was pro trump. Did you see that?   So I wouldn't go as far as saying Field & Stream was attacking Trump.

also, what is wrong with being proactive? I don't see the logic in waiting for something bad to happen and then reacting to it.  That's like saying how could you say that Hillary Clinton is going to take away guns. Let's wait for her to do it and then react to it.

I also didn't see anything that was in favor of taking up on arms and starting a war.  If you follow Field & Stream you would know that they had favorable opinions of Donald Trump compared to Hillary.
