It's already ugly.  I know of three guys that got tickets already this year for riding during hunting season.  They were busted riding the canal between jordan and weedsport.

Snowmobiles have all winter to ride losing a couple weeks won't hurt them. Most years they do not even have enough snow to ride until  January anyways.  I laugh when I hear guys complain because the isn't  enough for them to get there little toys out a and play. If that state pushed a bill to stop it all together I would vote 5 times for the person you proposed it.

Years ago I hit a guy with my truck. He never stopped at a road crossing and flew out right in front of me. Tried saying it was his crossing and I should have stopped for him when I saw him coming across the field. That didn't fly.  Ended up with lots of tickets and paid for repairs to my truck. They are toy they should be kept in your yard. Or at least on your own land.

Wouldn't make a difference. Once those first 2 days have passed deer shut down and gun season is effectively over anyway as far as mature Bucks are concerned.

I have seen a slew of late season older bucks that were taken. strategy and where they are hanging out in day light changes but they are still there.

Money goes along way in this state . You should look into the dollar figures generated by the snowmobiles. State and local are making a killing when the season is good . Without looking it up ,I would say snowmobiles generate way more revenue then hunters ever will on a local scale.

Stubby u don't think gun season is long enough? Let the bow guys hunt bow and the snow mobilers have here season! U get ur season

Where did I say gun season isn't long enough? Bow season was long enough too but people pushed for and got 2 weeks added to it. As for the toys keep them on their own property. Or take them up north where there are fewer people to bother with the noise and fewer roads to cross or ride down. Even fewer yards for them to ride through at 2 in the morning without permission.

Snowmobiles have an extremely regulated noise standard ,that argument holds no water, I see way more Harleys that are loud as heck and nobody complains about that. They also have a very nice and we'll marked trail system across the state . Blaming a couple bad eggs on the entire snowmobile community is much like blaming all gun Hunters for a few bad eggs.

I don't think anyone pushed for a longer bow season. They used to start the north country on Sept 27th and the rest of the state 2 weeks into October. The main reason they switched it was to be able to regulate the amount of deer shot out of season. I can guarantee people were poaching deer putting a tag on it and said they shot it on some state land in the northern zone. I mean I hear people say "once the deer is in the truck how do they (DEC) know the difference". The season change was to keep people honest would be my guess. Still doesn't change the fact of people shooting deer out of season but it leveled the playing field more for those that follow the rules.

I used to snowmobile put on about 1500 miles a year just going 6-8 weekends in the winter. It was a lot of fun and they have just as much right to ride down the shoulder of the road (for 500' or less) than a bicycle. Most snowmobilers don't intentionally tresspass it is tough when it is dark to see the trail with fresh snow unless it is a groomed trail. Most trails that aren't up at Tug hill are small trails through farmer's property that have been there since the 60s and not groomed.

Leave the NZ as it is! There are areas up there that just seeing a deer, any deer is an accomplishment. If any changes to the NZ, lets open up some more DMP WMU's!

Should not take 2 months to get it done and really if it does then maybe that area should be closed all together?  8 weeks is way to long!

stubby you appear to be in the minority here so I wont keep going on... but bow season being too easy is quite the claim.

any pics of some 130+ class bucks you've taken during these easy and warm seasons of past?

My guess is he gave up Bow because it was just way to easy and had way to many of those great 130's!    Like the hunter on hunter statement on Letchworth. For him to have and see that problem one must sit within view of their pickup while on watch?   Maybe that explains it??

Snowmobile season is a Bullshit issue. Snowmobiler’s have to stay on designated trails or ride on lands they own or have permission to ride on. So its non-issue there small game hunters are out and with the bow set back being 150’. I don’t see a problem with adding a week to the muzzle loading season and 2 to 3 weeks to the bow season. After talking to some of the guys at the DEC at one of the outdoor shows, they indicated the state would be open to adding days to the late season. But certain originations keep pushing for earlier openers.

Late season issues start with bucks dropping antlers and getting shot and tagged for does?

We had that argument back when I first joined this site. You also asked for pics of good bucks I had gotten.I posted them then and proved what I was saying go find them. Even a couple bigger then 130. As for getting away from my truck ? Because of my connections down there I probably have access to spots you have never seen. Not that anyone would have to get far from there truck. Just park at maintaince building walk out back with a apple in your hand. You will see way bigger then 130 class deer. There guy who work in the park who will not hunt there because of all the other hunters there. I have seen parts of the gorge pushed by 30 guys while I was stuck in between the walkers and standers. They walk right by and just wave.

You mean they are suppose to stay on trail. Heck down town the trail crosses main street go's up past gas station then swings back around back to gas station. The sidewalks are marked and blocked no snowmobilesuch Guess what everyone through there goes down sidewslk. No regard for warnings until the cops start handing out tickets. They blow across my front and back yard and there is no trail within a 1/2 mile. They cut through lawns to get to another part of trail to save time. Not just a couple bad apples. A whole basket of bad. This thread is not about that though so let's bring it back to the hunting seasons. Not the toy season.

Would those be the same pics you just put up on here awhile back on another thread? 130's were not seen?  As far as the park goes anyone who hunts there knows where the hunters in numbers will be and thats off the easy trails and next to the road. Just like most any other hunting land would be. Your apple statement and building tell anyone that hunts there your true credibility.

You have ran the gauntlet here on this thread by bad mouthing everything from city hunters to people that enjoy their sled's. Please put those pic's of all those 130's you took with the bow before you gave it up because it was to simple!

This year if the ML season went 7 more days it would have closed on the 28th if bow went two more week it would have closed on Jan. 4th. How many guys would be out and what are the odds of coming across a buck with no antlers. It could happen but other states run there bow season later into Jan. and not just the southern state run there bow season into late January.

Are you saying chase these things from Oct 1st and stop in First week of Jan??  I sure hope I missed something along the way here?
