Happy fathers day to all the dads out there and the ones that now live in our hearts and memories.  Got a nice little box of fishing stuff. Went to a baseball game with grandsons. Had a great dinner and now just chillin after a day in the sun.

Two of my kids had invited me to dinner but had to take rain dates . I had already told my youngest son that I would come down and help out with the home that he and his wife bought down near Honeoye . I spent several hours up and down a ladder cleaning the gutters out . They were loaded with crap . After I got most of the junk out , I cleaned the shingle grit with my old wet-dry Sears Vaccuum cleaner . I had that fastened to the ladder and dropped it from at least 10 feet and it still kept working .

I refinished and stained a 70 year old picnic table and benches and took them down to the property .

So , I got a pretty good workout and I am tired !

Forgot to mention that my son had taken the insulation off of the walls in the basement as there was a water problem . In my brilliance I said I could haul it home and see what I could do to get rid of it . He rolled it up and I strapped it down in my trailer . As I was going up Egypt Valley road and then across Co Rd 32 I could see flakes of the insulation blowing away . When I got to the Sunoco Station at Rt 64 , I pulled in , got out a small tarp and covered the insulation up as best I could and then lashed it down again . I had to tie off the grommets at spots so the tarp wouldn't blow back from the wind resistance . And then as I was doing this the skies opened up and there was a downpour . I got my butt soaked but I longer had to worry about littering the highway and chancing on a ticket . It wasn't quite an awesome Father's Day but I was glad I was able to help with my son's 1st house .

You cleaned your sons  gutters out on fathers day ? He should have been cleaning the gutters on YOUR house.

EDIT: or some type of chore ,after reading your post ,you might be the kind of guy that takes pride in clean gutters and they're already clean . Either way you sound like a great dad .

Happy fathers day to all the dads

Nick , my youngest son , Is the one I helped . He didn't ask me . I just knew that with buying his 1st home that he was overwhelmed with work that had to be done before moving into the house . The gutters were something that I could handle while he did other necessary chores . The shingles had been replaced a little over a year ago and the gutter should have been cleaned or replaced at that time . They were loaded with grit from the previous roof .

If I needed help doing something at home , Nick would be the one I could call on to help . I got more satisfaction out of helping him than going to dinner . It was a good Father's Day .
