zeus1gdsm
So every store in my area is sold out of Remington. 308 180g soft points. But they have pointed soft points. Will switching to the poi ted require me to resight my rifle? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
stubborn1VT
Not if the pointed soft points are also Remington. If they are a different brand, then it is very possible you will need to resight.
rob-c
Not to be a smart a$$. But Are you that cheap that you can’t buy a extra box and get some valuable bench time and practice in to see where they shoot?
Robhuntandfish
i love the 180 PSP's in my 30-06! great expansion! Its a deer dropper! I hunt some real thick stuff and these just put em down!
ny hunter
I would shoot and see never take that chance....
Buckmaster7600
Probably but I couldn't even imagine not shooting it first. I'm assuming your talking about core cokt- we are talking less than 3$ to confirm it will hit the same. Cheap insurance in my book. I won't even hunt with the same ammo from a different box than I sighted in with.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
zeus1gdsm
It's all Remington and same weight. It's not about being cheap or anything like that. Came off a little hot on that one eh? Making assumptions.im actually looking to get 6-8 boxes so I won't have this issue again for a while. The issue is finding time in my night shift 60hr a week schedule with kids. If they will be way different then I need to allocate more time and setup a range visit before the season. If it's gonna end up in the same ring then I can just stop off to state land and lay down for some minute adjustments. Currently dialed in at 100yards but I shot my last box today checking all my rifles. Also if it is going to be way off then I would consider driving an hour out of my way to locate some. again this takes time to be allocated into my schedule. As of right now rome and utica stores don't have any. And now as I sit here looking for other ammo dealers in the county, it might just be easier to go get the pointed, borrow my buddies sled and resight the damn thing. Pygmy
I would be VERY surprised if they grouped much differently.. However I would be sure to buy a box of them and confirm the grouping before I took them hunting..
NYBowhunter
Same gr., i cant see it being any different. I have shot out to 50 yards with both 150gr and 180gr with same rifle with no difference.
NYBowhunter
Like most have noted, i would not enter a hunting situation without testing them first.

I am just looking for a ballpark guesstimate on if they will be way off (8+inches) or only an inch or so.Off big time I would want to give myself a couple hours and borrow a sled and go to a range 30 minutes away.An inch or so I can grab a plate, blanket and sand bag and hit the state land 10 mins away.I appreciate the input on the grouping.I've shot the soft points for 5 years outta this gun. Each season they get harder to find Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Buckmaster7600
Grab a pizza box and the new shells and shoot it. If it's off by a foot or by an inch it takes the same amount of time to re zero.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Doewhacker
Why not just have a shop order some for you?
Steve D
I would definitely shoot one for comparison and go from there....or go buy the bullets you want. You still have 5 weeks to find them.

Lucky for you have state land that allows target shooting close by. I would dare to say I doubt the difference would be as drastic as 8"+. Maybe a couple inches.
