Hunter shot in Pavillion ,NY

shotgun and 500yards or feet away ?  Conflicting yardage on reports so far.  Something doesn't add up.

it says 500 yards! That's one heck of shot with a shotgun. I would think at that distance it would have bounced off the hunter.

another article listed "500 feet"   And who's hunting with any projectile there that can travel that far  whether it be feet or yards?

Quite dark in fact    Coyote hunting with rifle is only thing I can think of             WYRK lists 500 feet

A rifle would make a little more sense. I usually get out of the stand at dark to help keep from spooking deer.

I think it's poorly written and confusing. 2 guys were hunting, one was shot. Sounds like perhaps a 3rd person was involved as the article states " was not hunting at the time of incident, but was probably target shooting".  Maybe the accident was reported at 7pm ,but what time did the incident occur?

So if the shooter was not hunting it should not read hunter shot hunter? And 7pm target shooting? Poorly researched article as most media these days. Get the sesationalism out as fast as possible the hell with making sure any of it is right lol.

Update. Kids target shooting with a 22. They said it went through his are and hit his chest but yet didn’t enter.

With rookie "reporters" staffing the local channels, I'm not surprised at the apparent lack of accuracy. They are more used to "bubble gum" news reporting. Something serious happens and their reporting falls apart.

I belive i read centerfire 22, soo that could be a bunch of differant bullets. But a .22 at 500ft makes more sense since it didnt penatrate his chest.
