How much you think this one weighs

Not much sag in the belly.  I'd guess 300 lb.

very tough to say without a better view of the head, early in the year so not as big bellied as they would be in October/ November, just like with fawns, the longer the legs look, the younger....it looks like the pic cuts off the lower part of the legs.  no weight guess, but I am thinking it is a mature bear, and in the fall probably a nice one. almost any NY bear other than a cub is a trophy!

I agree with daveboone.  Tuff to tell, but it definitely isn't a cub... I'd be happy to take him.

Tough to judge from a profile, but his flat belly does not say BIG BEAR to me...

I'd say 100 lbs minimum and perhaps 200 lbs . max...Probably a 2 year old cub just chased off by his Momma...

I think it's just a "teenager"  two, perhaps three years old. The flat belly, longer appearing legs and ears are the give away. A mature bear will be much more rounded overall, even this time of year. And will have stubby looking Iegs. The head too, will be much more rounded with the snout and ears appearing short and stubby. A front view, would show all this much more clearly.Here is an example of what I am trying to describe.

Talk to the guys that have experience hunting them in spring, when, of course, they are lighter than they are in the fall

They will tell you, the big ones LOOK big....

I'm not a bear hunter.  But I've seen bears in our local woods for most of my life. And it's very true. You will KNOW it's a BIG bear when you see one. That's exactly what I told my buddy moog, before his recent Canadian bear hunt.
