JDN2K
Hi All, Looking for some assistance from you more seasoned hunters on this board. I came across this "rub" a few weeks ago in 5C. I was in a swamp/lowland area so I initially thought a bear was the culprit, the gouges in the tree were deep and look like three claws had raked across the tree trunk. On closer inspection, there were multiple rubs on a line of trees. Does that rule out a bear? It's difficult to tell from the pictures, but the rubs go up to 6 feet high, whi ch must be from the tallest deer I'd ever seen or maybe a moose. Thoughts?

ncountry
Those small soft maple trees seem to be one of the moose favorites.
