Reminder Retreat with Permethrin

At docs now for a tick.  Retreat those clothes boys and girls.   Good thing my wife returned from Puerto Rico last night.   She usually helps with post hunt tick check.   Wasn’t around this last weekend.  No way I could see this tick in the middle of my upper back.   And you don’t feel a thing.

Nasty things. I've had one and the dog one each earlier this season. Have not seen one in a while but the higher temps will get them active.

To make matters worse, I just learned that I lost the title of sexiest man alive ....  AGAIN!  Curse that John Legend.

Hate those lil bastards, I spray my clothes way more that required all season, spray my truck and car seats too. I keep tick pullers everywhere.

that sucks Moog!  hope you are ok.  Ive had Lyme - no fun.  Saw on news that they did a study and in CNY 1/3 of all ticks have a disease they can transfer to humans.  I think it was St lawrence co that was 1/2.  I saw at least 6 this year on the back of my hand or on clothing.  Bears, yotes, mountain lions and Squatches in the woods dont worry me but ticks sure do.

Good suggestion Brian, to re-treat clothing as we head into the final quarter of the season. Really glad it was found. And hope you will be fine with some Doxy pills. Lyme is nothing to play around with. And always treat every tick bite as being a serious matter, to be discussed by your doctor. Hope all will be fine my friend.

Wasn’t engorged.  My wife said my skin is too thick for even a tick to penetrate.  Not sure if that was a shot at me or not.   I will be fine but thanks.

Was it dead? I usually shower as soon as I get home from hunting. When I do find them on me, they are dead from the shower.

You need to have an official "tick checker" check you all over when your wife is away.  There are woman you can hire to do this... You can tell your wife this is a good idea for your health.... !!!

On a serious note, the one tick that actually got me I was out picking wild mushrooms. Headed to the gym after and did a serious workout and showered in the gym shower. New clothes, clean body. Next morning tick was engorged in my armpit.  Best I can figure it hung on under my arm pit, even though I washed. Im not convinced showering will kill them 100%. Biz I think you got lucky.

+1 on the tick checker. I still have my wife check my hair and back after each shower. I know several people who got Lyme. They are all non-hunters, who I assume didn't check themselves good or didn't shower after hiking or doing lawn stuff. The last few years I have sprayed clothes with permetrin and it makes a huge difference. Back in the day On a warm hunting day, i would always have 10-20 ticks on my clothes when sitting on the ground in high brush. Now, I can never even find one on me. Only a few times over the years have i had 1 still attached to me after a shower (but they appeared dead). Once I found one on my dicky-doo after fishing. Had to have my wife (then G/f) pluck it off. It was stuck on me, but not engorged and I've never had symptoms, so never took antibiotics.

Dick ticks are bad!  Always helps to have a dick tick picker, to remedy the situation!

I think having ticks is automatic disqualification ,for the title .
