Jeremy K
All you have to do is be in a legal hunting area with the right piece of equipment for the season and you are hunting.

Robhuntandfish
theres a few guys on here that didnt start hunting til after middle age and post some great stories and pics of the deer they have gotten. Maybe lookup the field to fork program or QDMA or the local club like Rob said. Each journey begins with the first step. and welcome in. squirrelwhisperer
Welcome to the fraternity, lol. Joining a hunting/fishing club is good advice. Try to find a mentor that can show you the ropes and get you going in the right direction. You can gain a lot of insight here, but having someone with you in the woods is far better. The only other thing you need is to be prepared to empty your savings account
SpacemanSpiff
Hello, new here myself but have a life long love of the outdoors as well as firearms and concealed carry. Hunting is far from rocket science but does require tons of patience and will. Plenty of people try to replace those with monetary objects/gadgets and YouTube videos. Unfortunately it just takes time and a good teacher if at all possible. Firearm knowledge/safety is a whole subject in and of itself. Good luck and don’t be afraid to ask questions. grampy
Welcome! To hunting as well as HuntingNY!! We can certainly help you here, by answering a bunch of the questions you will have getting started. And perhaps you may even find a mentor from here as well, that lives in your area. As many here have shown, they are willing to share and give back. A mentor will cut the learning curve by a lot! But with patience and willpower, you can do it alone too. I wish you all the best in your future hunting.
