Ted Nugent.  I would like to ask him directly why he thinks his antics are good for hunting and hunters?  The only other famous hunter whose opinion I would value is long dead.  His name is Theodore Roosevelt.  All other famous hunters have done NOTHING compared to him in regards to the natural world.  Most especially, the Nugents, Barta's and Jordan's of the modern world!!

I have met Bob Foulkrod , Dick Bernier , Charles Alsheimer and Larry D Jones . Charlie Alsheimer was the most personable with Dick Bernier a close 2nd . When I mentioned Chuck Adams to the other two , you could see fire in their eyes ........ :) .. :O  They didn't care for Mr Adams .

I agree with Solon...Tiffany Lakosky for obvious reasons...in all seriousness Ted Nugent not so much for his knowledge on the Outdoors but his principals and what he stands for.  I think I could sit and talk hunting and rock and roll with him for hours.

I agree with Solon to an extent....Roosevelt because of what he helped bring about with the parks and hunting. and Uncle Ted....but not for the same reason as Solon. I would love to talk politics....I share many of his views and while others may not "like" what he does...it is legal and his RIGHT and that is what he is about...and Maybe I could get him to strum a few chords.

PS...I'd have to throw Hemingway in there too.... to see what wild Africa was really like

Id love to talk politics with The Nuge, alot of what he says makes sense, some doesnt to me though. You have to admit, the guy has more than his fair share of personality.

Id like to talk hunting with the Drury's and have my picture taken with Tiffany or that country singer chick. Id love to spend some time in camp with Waddell and his group of guys.

I'd like to ask Nugent how such a patriot never served. Also how fathering a child while married and refusing to accept responsibility until court ordered is consered having and honoring good family values. I doubt we would get to questions 3,4, and 5.

Big difference from not serving and doing all he could to avoid the draft during a war - Vietnam. He was well into his 40's and married to his current wife when he made that "mistake" - and did not take responsiblity until just a few years ago. Hardly a youthful indiscretion. And I'm sure he would be all over answering them if a camera was running so he could continue to sell everyone on the job he does for us. All the while getting paid very well for it. I do give him credit for being one of the best self promoters I have ever seen operate.

He does have a personality! :)

Bush and Cheney actually went to school and got degrees - a legitimate deferment.

No records exist that Nugent ever actually attended other then registering one semester and kept his deferment for a lot longer. All kind of stories about how he ended up 4f that have never been denied - just brushed off.

Well, unfortunately, I did not meet Fred Bear. But I have met Glenn St. Charles on a few occassions. However, these men had class, and I doubt considered themselves "Celebrity" status. They are and were just dedicated to the sport they loved.

To me the real heros of the sport are the grass roots men and women, that mentor themselves to next generation and those that want to learn. They are often very active in many outdoor groups, and give advise freely without expecting to get PAID for it. Passing it on is reward onto itself.

Not to rain on the parade but, awarding celebrity status to the "Forrest Gumps" of the Outdoor Channel seems absurd to me. They are about the "Business" of hunting NOT the "Sport" of hunting.

Bill said, "I would have liked to meet Howard Hill".

I would have to agree with you there Bill. Would have bee nice.

There is a quote from Howard Hill, I will always remember. Most people probably do not know this, but Howard Hill was also an ordained minister. He was asked once, how did you manage to keep your faith on the straight and narrow after running around with Hollywood types like Errol Flynn?  Howard replied, "Even if you have to step into a pig pen, as long as you don't do what the pigs do, you can still step out clean".
