Early season opener

Anybody have any luck for the opening day of the early bear season in the southern zone? Heard a few shots in the catskills

I might go out monday. I got the first deer of the year last year, this year hopefully the first bear.

Gonna take a walk check stands spend the day in the woods maybe I well get lucky....

I have  a few on my cams all summer long but, I prefer to go  later during the season when its colder and their winter coat comes in before they den up.

My 2 cousins both harvested bears from their property yesterday. One bear dressed out at 412 lbs

I decided to give it a try this weekend and those are some of the steepest hills I've ever climbed. If you manage to tag something in the catskills park you've definitely earned it.

I saw no bear no deer yesterday....I was hoping to start seeing some rubs but nothing yet...

I'll be out this Saturday up in the north. This is my 4th year giving it a half-assed attempt. Haven't had great sign and i think all the bears live and reside in the safe zones of the old forge camp grounds haha.

That said, it'll be the first year where it's not unseasonably warm in the 70's.

no bear or even deer seen this weekend, but it was a nice trip with the family to the cabin. Even the trail cams were sparse. I enjoyed the woods meditation though and I'm still glad to have made the trip.

not familiar with Frankies, but we did have lunch/dinner at Daikers to catch the bills game!

Last time I was up there a group of kids left Daikers in a boat and ran it like 300 yards up on an island, a couple were killed IIRC. Bad scene
