Saw a woodchuck today in the snow

Riding my bike on the Erie Canal trail near Syracuse and saw a woodchuck run thru the snow and go down his hole !

19 degrees out

I heard a hen turkey calling today.  Spring isn't far off.

Haven't seen a chuck yet but snows have been flying  north for a couple of weeks and canadians have been flying every night for past 4 days.

Canadian geese or people?

Breeding season ,same as skunks coyote and many others, are you sure it was his hole or was he going for a visit to his lady???

A woodchuck scampered across the road in front of me Feb 27th, as I was driving to my buddie's place for our last bunny hunt of the year....

There were few things that would get me more excited than seeing those first spring Woodchucks emerging and standing up in their fields of melting snow. I would spend the winter handloading precision ammunition for my battery of varmint rifles and fine tuning them for accuracy getting ready for the upcoming hunts.

Sadly there are not many Woodchucks around these days.

I saw my first woodchuck of the year yesterday after lunch. Spring is in the air!

And the woodchuck said...."look at that guy riding his bike in 19 degree weather, we're both nuts!"

I miss shooting them chucks. Not sure what happened to them, most blame coyotes. I once saw one run up a tree after my dog chased it.

On the way home from work today I  saw  my first chuck of the season

Had my first robin  sighting this afternoon  while walking  dogs.
