Papist .. dont forget thou even on ur property DEC wants your tag visable on you while hunting

just saying ...

I know, but it's dumb and I just don't care that much for stoopid rules. Seems to be some kind of weird conditioning exercise more than anything practical.

Most hunting gear/clothes have back tag loops designed into them so you don't have to poke any holes.  I keep it on my backpack as well so it's always on me regardless of which jacket I wear.  My backpack has loops as well.

Pic#1 = back of my jacket.

Pic#2 = back pack.

None of these DEC replies to back-tag questions ever address the fact that most hunters wander around with a backpack covering the center of their back. So if they are to be visible, they cannot be attached to your back, but must be on the pack. And then when you take the pack off assumedly they have to be removed and re-attached to the back of your outer garment. I would think that they must have been asked about that enough times that they should think it important enough to answer questions about all that stuff.

I got stopped by DEC only once since hunting in NY had my back tag on my backpack

all he said was if I take the backpack off to make sure the tag went on my back

as for the tags I have a clear name tag holder with a safety pin that I just put my tag in & pin to the ear

Well DEC tells you to put it visibly in the center of your back, but i think its funny they make you pay for these back tags and then you have to ruin your gear (expensive waterproof jacket) by punching holes through it ?  <_< its also a whole lot easier to put in you pocket so when a DEC Officer asks you for your licence you don't have to take your jacket off to get out of the Back Tag.

I never put my license or tags in with my back tag. Carry license and tags in pocket. As for back tag it's on the outer clothing.

Has anyone ever had a problem with where the back tag was?

I was wandering if people will comply to drive in their vehicle with the driver's license in their back... ;)

Driving is no different. You must carry your license "on your person" while engaged in the activity.

Your numbered "tag" (license plate) must be visibly displayed on the back (and front). Your car acts as "outerwear" in this case so the tag is always visible.
