    Wish I could help. Given the ammo situation maybe look into switching him to a 243win and it will drop any deer just like 308 under 100yrds

    Another vote for SST but every gun likes different ammo. My pump mossy loved Winchester Bri sabots , when I switched to remington 1187 the only ammo it liked was SST and I would get a clover group at 75yrds with it. I was a little anal about SST , matching batch numbers when buying boxes and then bringing them home and sorting shells by weight for each season. All deer were one shot kills with SST and usually didnt take a second step.

    Wanted to bring this thread back up to the top as a reminder that it will be one yr tomorrow. I am still no where close to be able to draw a bow. At best can hold 5lb with the arm stretched out. Working with PT so there is hope for late season. Please be careful while setting up stands or just in general. Have a safe season

    Of course if you have a grove that will give you that yield than its a different discussion , OP was talking about starting a food plot, that is next to impossible to grow under black walnut trees.

    Kids are coddled far too long. 26yr olds on parents health care plans now Back in 80's 14yr olds knew better and used to earn money for things they wanted not being handed a $1000 phone because their classmates have it. Times have changed since I was a kid.
