1988 at Campsite I was 18 and was now old enough to go hunting. No shooting to pass the class. (I had no mentor so I had to wait until I could buy a gun, afford vacation and the cost that go with it.)

Welcome aboard! If you are looking for help with public land it is hard. Many are reluctant to give up the area's they like to hunt. NYS DEC has an interactive map that shows state land. Suffolk and Westchester is bow only so you might want to check those area's out. Good luck and don't be afraid to open another post with specific questions. I was told June/July for my 2013 buck taken on Nov 7th. I have had them done in 5 months, depends on the taxidermy as mentioned above.

I don't think I could shoot an all white albino buck but piebald is not the same thing. I have had enough bad luck hunting so all white would get a pass. The all white deer in these videos would get a pass in my woods. Some good fights! Enjoy. After they try and take your assault weapons they will say the other weapons are just as bad, justification to take them all. Nope will not affect me? By the time you figure it out it will be too late. Don't let them trample on your rights ever, even if you do not own an assault rifle. Wake up!

When I find another park with 6 million acres of land I will think about another state. A cabin in the middle of this land is what I consider pure bliss. LI offers some nice urban hunting and some public land close to home. Catskills, Roscoe, Long Eddie, Prattsville, Westchester, Port Jervis, Deposit, Hunter, Cooperstown, ADK, Western NY farm county(To many towns to list), the multitude of state parks all over the state. I guess I love NYS! Sure I could go to another state but home is where the heart lies and mine belongs to the ADK deep woods. PS: I am bias as I have only hunted NYS and have only explored Pennsylvania and Maine.

Class when out the window the day they made us all illegal gun owners in a midnight frenzy of Illegal laws. Think of it this way: Just before these laws went into effect everyone including their grandmother went and purchases an assault rifle. How did this make us safer? By arming the citizens to the teeth with the very guns they are trying to ban? WORKED GREAT. Tell me how many lives have been saved by the Safe act? No statistic, because you have no proof? Try and ban knifes and see if they do not fly off the shelves. Then try to get them back, lol. Repeal the Safe Act and stop letting these convicts out of jail with a slap on the wrist. Take the parents and make them responsible for their children and the acts they commit until they are at least 15. Let teachers discipline the kids if you can not, this includes a paddle and quiet time. Plain and simple some kids need a beating on the butt. O wait then you stupid parents will sue, my bad. Plain and simple good parents discipline their kids and because of this the kids show respect to the parents and adults as was taught by the responsible parent. Show me an out of control kid and I am willing to bet the parents are total loser's who really do not care and like to put the blame on the school and teachers.

Banning knives and guns is stupid. Hope they finally figure this one out. But wait I forgot its ok for them just not for us.

I understand, this is just my opinion. I wanted to have a weapon that I was more confident in and the compound fit my applications. With the traditional I could shoot out to 50 yards but consistency at this distance was an issue I did not like. I shoot about 3 times a week and I doubt I could be this accurate at 70 yards with a traditional bow. Not that I would shoot a deer that far but it makes 50 yards seem like a chip shot. Plus I am competing with shotguns and muzzleloaders.

Looking forward to some advice from some of our seasoned hunters.

I would love to do my part in this area, just do not feel like dealing with the hassle. Between people that do not want hunters, other hunters I hear are objecting to new hunters in the area. Permission from home owners, recovery rights, I could go on. Hunting public land is less of a hassle and more of the type of hunting I enjoy. (woods) I do not think it would be the same with my parents watching me "whack" some deer. And I certainly would get into trouble stalking which is how I like to hunt. Tree stands and blinds really bore me and take away from the chase I love so much. Debating if I should get involved.
