  4. Congrats!!! Awsome deer, love the story! NICE success story!!!
  5. WOW Meatmuzzy!!! What a trophy, and to get it all on video!!! Truely Awsome!!! Congrats on a beautiful buck and great shot! Nothing like getting the moment on tape, again just awsome!!! Now go get some sleep, lol.
  6. WOW unreal. Just as in life not everyone shows respect while hunting. I had a guy tell my hunting partner of over 20 years that he was tracking a buck with his son and if he saw it that it was thiers. Funny thing is I saw the "buck" they were tracking and it was a big doe... Funny how that works out... No doe hunting in the area we were in. Hope your hearing comes back ok! Some people show no repect while hunting, fishing or in lifes everday afairs... And thats why DEC, ECO and police in general are needed... I have seen several people just get out of thier vehecles and shoot into the woods next to my camp or hunting area, when I explain that people are in the woods they look at me like it's impossible. I have had people fire a round off next to our camp but the other party let us know it was about to happen and they checked the woods before shooting... Some are respectfull others are not and are usually idiots...
  7. WOW amazing, best of luck with him Cabin Fever!!! In so far as the amount of time, come on. He has a life, he has obligations... Sounds to me like he is hunting as much as possible considering... Again thanks for sharing such an amazing deer with us. He is what most of us dream about and will go through great lengths to get. Good luck with him, I hope you get your hands on him, he is a stud!!! I would be very interested in his age. (Any idea?) 5 1/2? DAM, I bet he's the king of those hills... Best of luck to your son, hope he is ok. God bless.
  8. Wow very cool, good luck with wich ever one crosses your path first!!! Looking forward to seeing your next picture with one of them in it.
  9. I do not want to get into a debate about letting the X-bow in bow season but they should have the option of any disabled person with a doctors note and DEC approval to have a X-bow during any season... Come on DEC if they still want to hunt let them, it's our passion!!! Plus it will add up to more money for the state... Plus plus!!! Politics suck and are probably keep this at bay. The DEC will make it a legal impliment in bow season, it's just a matter of time I think...
  10. Congrats, thats a great accomplishment!!! Can't wait till I get one with the bow.
  11. Recovering in Huntington. So many poles and tree's down it's unreal. Passed on a Doe sunday, yes I hunted on sunday in the high winds in Brookhaven. I contemplated hunting yesterday but decieded on clean up instead... Had to host the shower party... Only lost a back window and a boat tarp. Now everyone is over my house because I have power, tv, internet and hot showers... Kinda sucks because I am at work, lol... This kills my hunting trip for next week yet i hope I can take 2 straight weeks to track down a monster, hopefully in the snow if present... Good luck all, be safe.
  12. Lucky to have only minor damages. Lost a window and a boat tarp and a bunch of tree branches. Lucky to have power, internet, tv and phone the day after. The damage is unreal. Have not heard of any looting but they are getting into fights at the gas stations... Many are still running generators and are low on fuel. It will be at least 2 weeks before this is taken care of... I have about 5 telephone polls down in my area. Using the laptop at work because the power is only on partialy... It's pretty bad. Sucks because hunting vacation #2 was suppose to start saturday but that is going to have to wait. Not even sure the area I hunt is open...
  13. Wow glade to see you are back in action tughillhunter!!! Good luck this year, hope the next bloody shot we get to see is the deer. Makes my putting the knife through my finger last year seem trivial, lol.
  14. I do think many experianced hunters can tell the differance between a doe and a button but many just do not care as meat is the main objective... The others that do care take the time to identifiey the sex if they are concerned enough.
  15. So much land so little time... This is the link on the DEC web site to find public land. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/82098.html Bring a GPS, map and compass and know how to use them!!! These are some big woods. Good luck!
  16. I was told by the butcher to hang it by the neck/antlers because it helps drain the blood better. Otherwise he said the blood goes into the head when hung upside down. I was informed that hanging it upside down shows it more repect. Not sure which is better but as long as it is hanging who cares... IMO to each his own... Let who ever shot it make the choice. I do not think either way is wrong or disrespectfull.
  17. If you go solo, make a float plan if no one is around. Write on paper your planned route of hunting and possible spots and leave this on your windshield in a ziplock bag if a family member of friend is not availible. That common scense remark will keep you out of 90% of the danger we get involved in. Think safety! If you fall can a broad head cut you? If so how can you prevent this. EX:Having a back quiver I do not have fixed blades in my quiver. Any unexpected falls will not result in injury... Keep that safety harness TIGHT with very little slack, just enought to move... The more slack the greater the fall and possible danger... ELB's are getting cheaper every year, if you go back deep or have any health issues they are a invaluable life line where cell service is not availible. Place your shot...
  18. I have to agree with the person on site... Sounds like a high hit that nicked the back leaving a slight gash causing the deer to make those noises. Arrow blood specs and hair prove a miss on pass through IMO. Otherwise if uncertian a 200-300 yard area search in all deer trails and thick area's would eliminate most doubts. Sounds like Geno covered that. Hunt the area again, you will get him. You'll catch him chasing if you put up cams, I bet he goes nocternal a for a bit, doubt for long as pre rut is kicking off!!! Good luck Geno, He is still out thier!!!
  19. NIce!!! Congrats on your first bow/buck kill!!! Looking forward to seeing pics...
  20. WOW thats a brute, and you have bigger, dam. You are in a great area of NY, yes I am jelouse of you WNY hunters!!! Shame to loose suck a nice buck... I would have skinned and gutted to check, as long as you do not take him out I think thats legal, NO? How old do you think he is? Thats a big deer! Nice find but again such a shame, I would hate to find a bullet in him and would hope he has internal injurys from a vehecle.
  21. How much more american can you get!!! LOVE IT!!! Congrats on a great hunt and story to tell for years to come. Looking forward to hearing your story about the other buck!!! Good luck with him !!! Awsome
  22. Nice, congrats to the hunter!!!
